You made a general prediction.

My point is in your timeframe in which you'll say everything will be ****ed in weeks is too soon. Depending on the industry, the company, its competition, financial health and fundamentals outcomes will vary. Some are being crushed now and are doomed. Some it'll take a few months or a year. Some will come out of it ok without bailout $ sustaining their operations.

Oh no, I didn't.

For example, NYC's number of cases are doubling every day. At some point, very soon, the health care system there is going to break down, and bodies are going to pile up in hallways. By April, we will run out of hospital beds, nationwide.

This is going to spill over into the media, with images and videos left and right- and this will trigger panic in the market, which triggers panic in the economy, resulting in more layoffs. This triggers panic everywhere else. This is the perfect definition of a force multiplier. And just when NYC passes its peak, Florida is going to blow up, and that's going to cause yet another chain reaction, and more states will follow, especially those that refuse to enforce stay-at-home.

This is not going to be a Tyson 1-2 round TKO, it's going to be the 14 round Thrilla in Manila, and we won't be back to normal for a full year or two.

I'd love to be wrong about all this.

MA school closures extended through at least May 4, which should not surprise anyone who has been paying attention.
Based on how this thing is cresting I would be shocked if they go back this year.

This is actually kind of fun...

Ok, let's stick to the virus. It is completely out of control in the U.S. I predict we will be #1 in cases and #1 in deaths before this is over do to lack of testing, lack of leadership on the federal level, and willful ignorance of the American people who have been led to believe they are the "best" and "special" and the virus is a "hoax". Our medical personnel are true heroes who are bringing a knife to a gun fight in the coming weeks. I seriously believe we are going into another Great Depression and this will take minimum 18-24 months to play out. And yes, before you embarrass yourself, I have doctorate level background in chemistry and health sciences. We are in deep doo doo.

We were definitely headed that way but right now it looks like we're testing approximately 40,000 a day.

As the numbers continue to climb people will take this more and more seriously.

Ok that's just me hoping for the best.

Coronavirus US: Makeshift morgues outside New York hospital | Daily Mail Online

NYC preparing refrigeration trailers for morgue overflow.

I’m wondering if coronavirus cases had been taking place in the US well before the first confirmed cases were noted. My dad had an illness which didn’t seem to be the flu (he got a flu shot) but was not a mere cold where he was miserable and hacking up a lung and bed ridden for like three days. This was back in January.

One of his coworkers also had a similar illness during that time. Makes you wonder.
Human metapneumovirus has been going around this "flu season" and I think that's what a lot of people had. Coughing for 1-2 months, fever for 3 days, etc are the symptoms. Sars-CoV2/Covid-19 is a very different and even scarier virus.

Crazy, my mother had that months plus cough starting back in Nov/Dec. First time she's ever had pneumonia. Started feeling better but cough lasted forever.

No, no. Remember that Obama won the election twice. The president who was so divisive that he led people to vote for Trump. We have a LOT of idiots in this country.
We sure do. Helps explain why we are about to become the epicenter of the pandemic. Idiots everywhere who listen to egocentric politicians instead of medical experts and proceed to congregate, swarm beaches or run off on spring break.

My ribbing aside, they should absolutely, positively NOT re-open the country by Easter. That is a hilariously terrible idea. This was supposedly found on surfaces in a cruise ship 17 DAYS later. We need to be quarantined for at least another month and a half, otherwise it will have been all for nothing.

Oh, and is there anyone who DOESN'T think that the Chinese created this bad boy in a lab, with the express intention of weaponizing it?

That's their own fault. The government and the press have been saying to stay home for weeks now. Enter Gen Z 'tards who think they won't have another spring break ever again. Did you see that they have tested positive now? LMFAOOOOOO.
