just as with the 'tax cut', the checks were developed by congress.......all trump does is sign things

Last week Trump supported his nemesis Pelosi and congress draft of this stimulus.

But the Republican controlled Senate said **** that.

How odd.

Trump has no power. The Senate has it all.

Trump will say whatever he needs to look good. He has convictions certainly but they are by no means rooted in a specific ideology.
This.

Trump was never a big religion guy but look at him now. He knows he has a huge evangelical base and he appeases them at every turn. As a showman, he really has no equal.

Japan used to be a nation of such pride that death was the only solution to defeat and not surrender.

50 years of American ideation changed an entire history worth of belief.

I'm not sure about that, Abe is one of the most conservative leaders in the developed world and there's an undercurrent of really vile nationalism lurking under the surface in Japan. But your broader point, that "culture" and ideology isn't immutable, is totally correct.

You can't possibly be this stupid. A prohibition on banning slave importation until 1808 was literally in the Constitution!
To be specific, @TommyBrady12 , Article I, Section 9:
The Migration or Importation of such Persons as any of the States now existing shall think proper to admit, shall not be prohibited by the Congress prior to the Year one thousand eight hundred and eight, but a Tax or duty may be imposed on such Importation, not exceeding ten dollars for each Person.

His convictions are largely just that he would like them to say nice things about him on TV, and that the correct thing to do is the thing that makes people talk about him on TV. Trump's a lot less sophisticated than people want him to be, to say he even has convictions is giving him a bit too much credit. He has things that get stuck in his head, and often it's impossible to figure out where they came from, but that's about it.

Look At This Weird Thing Donald Trump Just Belched Up

What does it say about those people that they cant see behind the charade.

Its embarrassing.

I just wanna say that if Prince Charles can get this then were all absolutely ****ed.

I've left my house 3 times in 10 days and while I can closely mimic a hermit on my best days ok starting to feel quite restless.

I can't deal with this for 18 months that I know.

Don't worry I hear the virus expires April 12.

It’s a really odd dynamic. Each are getting something they want, Trump gets votes and they get a guy that can select SCOTUS judges to chip away at Roe v Wade. They also get a mouthpiece and national stage for other issues that they feel have been ignored during the Obama years.

For those gains, they are willing to overlook many of the negative things that would have traditionally disqualified POTUS support.

One thing I wanna say that doesnt make sense to me is this

China has about 1 billion people MORE than the United States

And yet, were halfway toward the confirmed cases China had and were just getting started.

Call me crazy but that doesnt feel right.

And china is supposedly on the downward trend.

Thank you for this, but the poster's original argument was that the US endorsed slavery as an economic means. This is basically the government turning a blind eye towards slavery.

So with all of the reports of a multi-trillion stimulus package in the works, shouldn’t we see a reemergence of the Tea Party to protest this explosion in federal spending? I mean that is what the Tea Party was about...right?

The Boston Tea Party was protesting taxation without representation by the Britsh. Boston now is just like the British were then, only Boston added fees to the taxes.

They got their representation and their representation bent them over backwards and said take it.

Surely you know I was referring to the Tea Party circa 2009.
