Coronavirus Discussion ONLY PLEASE!

Edit: The count was done Sunday morning. (300+ - I think it was in the 320s.) It's Monday evening and we're over 500. I'm not rooting for team virus, but I think it's got a good shot at making that 1500.
Hopefully the amount of infections will stabilize a bit in the not too distant future. It happened in China, and word of the last two days is that Italy has seen a decrease in number of new cases. It’s an encouraging thought if it holds up. But then again we aren’t a totalitarian country capable of doing what China did and the US has not gone as far as Italy has done.

Fingers crossed about Italy. It’s going to get worse before it gets better here...hopefully it does and sooner rather than later...

They just closed all barbershops here in VA for the next 30 days at least. if you guys haven't purchases some clippers, I’d strongly suggest you do so and teach yourselves how to cut your own hair. they are going to shut down barbershops all over the place in the near future, and there will probably be a run on men's grooming supplies. Already there is evidence of this on Amazon, where clippers are getting sold out.

This is the most ridiculous post you’ve ever made...and you don’t even understand why.

I no longer follow Brady.

The list of immunity tips isn't particularly controversial, IMHO.

Some hokey crap about keeping a positive mindset, but otherwise good (albeit basic) health tips:
  • Staying hydrated
  • Getting plenty of sleep
  • Remaining physically active
  • Eating vegetables
  • Reducing excess sugar intake
  • Getting vitamin C, zinc, and vitamin D (vitamin D is implicated in immune health and often overlooked in that regard).

Probiotics are a bit more open to debate I suppose, but there is some research indicating potential health benefits in certain regards, and certainly no concerns about safety based on the research I've seen. The NIH has a good website dedicated to probiotics:
Probiotics: What You Need To Know

It's a list of straightforward general health recommendations, so I really have no issue with it. The only real concern would be if someone otherwise ignored self-isolation and medical advice because they thought Brady's info protected them, but as far as I can tell he doesn't suggest that any of those recommendations will replace the advice of medical professionals.

While Brady has some dubious and potentially harmful health recommendations (primarily thinking about concussion stuff here), this isn't one of those instances. Nothing groundbreaking, either, but a perfectly fine list to help keep these healthy behaviors top-of-mind for folks.

Now, if we want to get into a discussion about him attempting to capitalize and grow his brand in light of the COVID situation, yeah, that's a legitimate issue.

Well, looks like Dr. Brix sold out her soul. :(
Hopefully the governors have the sense to keep the clamps on.

And this.

It's really amazing how unbelievably stupid and short-sighted he is.

Again, this is all tied to the market ... he wants stocks to rise given that it's an election year.

If he had one iota of critical thinking ability (and decency, but that's another discussion) he would realize that short-term losses now, resulting from social distancing, would improve economic prospects long-term. By ending the recommendation for social distancing far too early, he is tanking the economy long-term.

Unreal.

Those suggestions are solid ways to not get sick, period. Even the positive attitude suggestion is on the money. Worry & stress wear down the immune system. But that’s easier said than done.

I’ve worked in the vitamin supplement nudists for 17 years. Vitamins is one of the most positively effected categories since COVID-19 exploded 4 weeks ago. I’m tracking it daily and sales have almost doubled since the same period last year.

Of all the supplements, I’d suggest Elderberry syrup. But it needs to be stronger than 3500mg (3.5 grams). Clinical studies have shown it fight several flu virus strains and studies concluded it cut the duration of a cold & flu in half.

Google “Elderberry clinical” and see for yourself. Make sure it’s black elderberry or Sambucas.

Today, the former head of the CDC suggested daily vitamin D. It’s important for the immune system and most people don’t get enough sun this time of year.

She'll never live that down.

Easy for me to say sitting here, but that was spineless, and if the federal suggestion for social distancing does in fact end in a week, and inevitably more people intermingle and die as a result of COVID, she has some blood on her hands.

What boggles my mind is someone at her age doing such a thing. I could see someone in their 30s protecting their own career by doing/saying something untrue/unethical, but for someone in their 60s ... you're a few years from retirement ... really?

Fauci never would have caved to Trump's pressure and said such a thing, which is precisely why he was not present.

This isn't political anymore. It's about public health, and we have a president who is prioritizing his own self-interests (politically and financially) over the wellbeing of the nation; not only that, but he is actively pressuring medical professionals to disseminate dangerous lies, and de-platforming them if they refuse to lie for him.

This is beyond disgusting. We need to let competent, qualified, ethical individuals assume the role of managing the COVID situation (and the country in general).

Do it for the sake of what is right, but more importantly, for the sake of American lives.

I’m 61 and had asthma as a kid and I still get bronchitis when I get a cold.

I’m not socializing or traveling until this thing is over....as in, gone. I got the flu 2 years ago despite getting a flu shot. I didn’t get a fever/chills, but I was on prednisone twice in a month long bout.

My job isn’t worth risking my health.

If you take vitamin D, it should be taken with vitamin k2 and magnesium malate or glycinate. And always take D3. Not D2. Vitamin D made a huge positive difference in my health.

As a federal employee it whips that I'm gonna go back to work in a week and then die because the president got impatient with the pandemic

The K & magnesium are more for bone health purposes. But magnesium is super important for a lot of things....like mood health.

That's what alcohol is for.

Wow, my parents are over 70 and pretty friggin spry. I dont think sacrificing them for the economy is something too enticing
Pretty sure he wasn't proposing the elderly line up at the firing wall.

Doesn't sound like a crazy idea to me to have the elderly/older and immunocompromised population self-isolate while this virus makes its way through healthy citizens.

Or we could just shut the economy down for 6 months, and make sure we continually water our money trees while we're at home to pay for all the social services people rely on. Nevermind individual's bills.

What they should start doing is testing for antibodies and letting the people who have overcome the disease back into the economy (as someone on here mentioned re: the idea from that Dr. Brilliant).
