Brady’s contract with Tampa Bay - $25m/yr for 2 years?!

Which Super Bowl championship have the Patriots won so comfortably that you can take away the greatest QB of all time, replace him with a lesser QB, and still have won the Super Bowl?

Or even got there, how many game winning drives did Brady have in the post season. Embarrassing really just give BB any QB he’ll win right some forget players play

Our last SB was won on the back of the Defense.

And we lose the KC game with 99% of QBs not Named Brady. It’s just so hard to play defense now our defense can be GOAT level next year wont matter when you’re starting Sony/Stidham on the other side. Teams will evantuyput up points on the defense with the rules in this era

I've said it way before this happened and this just confirms it - BB was pushing Brady out the door. BB finally wants credit for all our Superbowls to himself and doesn't want to share it anymore.

People were trying to paint Brady as 'too greedy' and 'all about the money' to soften the blow of losing him, but clearly that wasn't the case.

BB was his usual ******* self when it came to negotiating Brady's contract, and so Tom finally couldn't put up with it any more so he was forced to leave New England. No weapons, no assurances, no respect, and BB wouldn't even offer a 2nd guaranteed year? It's a bad look for Belichick.

Once the fanbase calms down at how much it stings to lose Brady, they will realize that he was the best thing this franchise has ever had, and the arrogance of our head coach caused us to close a window that we might have been able to stretch open for another 2 years. This same arrogance was on display when he forced Malcolm Butler to sit out the entire Eagles Superbowl despite our secondary getting torched on every other play.

Look BB is a genius, no denying that, but he's also a very prideful man. And there was no reason Brady had to go except for BB wanted him out the door.

Completely agree with everything you say. That’s exactly my take on how this went down. And I think BB did the fanbase a disservice.

Man, getting the Brady ball-washers fully triggered is too easy. I knew that a few screenshots of him bailing unnecessary early on a critical play would do it.

Quick question: Do tear stains on a pillowcase need to be pre-treated first or do they just come out with the regular wash?

You’re just an ingrate who can’t appreciate what Brady has meant to this franchise and what he’s accomplished. Fact remains, we could have afforded to keep him and we let him walk or rather pushed him out for no sense reasons.

So, the fans are the "we' you talk of.Yes, many FANS and POSTERS have wanted the team to sign 2 and 3 year deals (and extensions with Brady for the last 3 off-seasons. And yes, MANY fans wanted to guarantee Brady $50M, with the expectation that he plays for 2-3 years. Yes, mechanically, we could have created another $20M or $30M of Brady dead money for 2022 and 2023 (hopefully, not for 2021).

Our GM and coach disagreed and has disagreed for 3 years. Many fans think that Belichick is terrible GM. OK, I strongly disagree, and Kraft disagrees. Of course, many of these fans will be gone soon.

Or many of those fans will hiss and cheer every pie on his face decision BB makes. I frankly look forward to BB’s comeuppance with relish.

You realize that the cap charge has already been paid? To pay Brady the same amount he's getting from Tampa would have cost at least $32.5m against the cap over the next two years if you include the prorated cap hit from the previous signing bonus, plus whatever incentives he hits. This way the dead money hits this year and then it's gone.

The Patriots are tight against the cap right now and their presumptive starting QB is on a 4th round rookie contract, and they don't have a ton of options outside of extending Thuney to make more of it. (Especially if they're trying to avoid handicapping themselves down the line.)

Yes I realize but that cap charge could have been moved to outer years. Frankly even more if we wanted. We could have rolled 18m to 2022 and 2023. Or 23m for that matter. All with void years. Or we just roll the same 13m cap charge out and not resign Thuney or DMac. Don’t tell me DMac at age 33 at 12m per year is a better deal than Tom frivkjn Brady at 25m per year.

We had lots of options. BB decided to show the world he can win without Brady. That’s it. Brady was not expensive and he’s tremendous value at 25m. And we don’t have Steve Young or Aaron Rodgers waiting in the bench. This was utter frickin stupidity.

Maybe, maybe not, but we won't know, because the talent level on this offense isn't sufficient to give any qb a fair shot. The 2020 qb for the New England Patriots is going to get killed. Brady was experienced enough to throw the ball away (some might argue prematurely as of late). That killed his completion percentage this past season. A new qb without that awareness is a sitting duck in this offense.

Well in that case explain how anyone can say we’re better off without Brady. Brady got us the go-ahead TD in the final regular season game in the final minutes to get us a bye with this pathetic offense and then our Def failed us like they did all game against Ryan Fitz and we didn’t get the bye. Could have changed the whole offseason. No other QB in the world brings us to almost a bye with that talent last season.

How are we better off without him. It defies belief. This is BB’s ego talking.

I struggle to understand what you feel like we could've done other than strip other parts of the team, most of which have already been stripped from the fact that they're FA's (linebackers especially), to free up enough capital to get those weapons. He knew that. That's why he left. It just was not in the cards.

Wasn't a whole lot of middle ground in the FA to pick from this year. Obviously are not going to be able to afford Hopkins (he apparently wanted a new contract?). Sanders was the only option who made sense, but he doesn't fix all the problems, and he wasn't that cheap of a buy anyway.

This is the salary cap serving its purpose. It is meant to do these things. It is meant to increase parity. It is meant to make it difficult to hold a GOAT QB for 5 years, let alone 20, and build an effective team around him.

The reason we have defied parity all these years is because we always held on to Brady, the greatest player to step on the field. We were always getting more value that others for same $. Now the jig is up.

The board may want to crucify me but now he's just another QB for a team I don't want to win & I hope he doesn't win another SB down there. I'm rooting for our Patriots and Jarrett Stidham. Go Pats.

We’re all rooting for the Pats to win. But we xan still be critical of FO mistakes.

I am a Patriot & I do dislike Trump and his decisions. So this will be a great example. The big difference here are the people who want to see BB tank (Trump giving up and running the country into the ground) or see BB fail (again, Trump running the country into the ground.) I wish Trump the greatest of success so that the people of this country can prosper, but I will remain critical of him. No problem with ppl criticizing the organization, but I do have a problem with ppl wishing for it’s demise.

I am hoping Pats prosper but I find it hard to believe they will with this kind of mismanagement. Still hoping. Going to be a tough season to watch.

It is possible that Belichik saw Brady nearing the end and decided to move on. It's not like he's hasn't done that before. Time will tell.

It’s also possible BB is wrong.

Let me get this straight. Belichick wasn’t building any of those teams to be competitive? That’s right, I forgot. Those defenses didn’t do jack, it was all luck. All those GW FG’s, luck. Whelp, let’s all hope we can walk ass backwards into some more of that luck!!

Lots of HCs work hard to field competitive teams. Not everyone has Tom frickin Brady

You’re just an ingrate who can’t appreciate what Brady has meant to this franchise and what he’s accomplished. Fact remains, we could have afforded to keep him and we let him walk or rather pushed him out for no sense reasons.

How do you know the Pats pushed him out? What inside track do you have? Proof please.

I firmly believe Belichick has a couple rings left in him. Find a Phil Simms-like QB game manager and surround with a great defense and ball control running game.

.

Yeah cuz Game Managers are what win SBs these days, like Mahomes, Brady, Wilson, Brees, Rodgers, P Manning, Roethelisberger etc. All these Game Managers. Wish we get a Game Manager like these. Oh we had one, called Brady, and we pushed him out.

It was time for both parties, Brady was no longer the company man, all of last year, he was on a tear into the owners and the coaches. It was not we anymore, it was whatever they tell me, that is what I am going to do. He started saying it was not his job to help his teammates.
That version of Brady was not going to help this team. What he wants is in Tampa.

Drinking too much Kool-Aid from Kraft. Soon you’ll be talking about how Brady wanted too much money.

All this narrative from Kraft is complete bs.

I think this was when BB started to think Brady was near the end. It struck me as very strange when this happened. There is another audio pick where BB asked him what he saw. You can't hear it here, I will keep looking.

BB’s a spoiled brat. Brady’s got almost the lowest interception rate per throw in the history of the NFL and BB has the audacity to take any one pick and make a roster move on it. BB better take some xanax as other Pats QBs start throwing picks we never saw Brady throw in 20 years. and Brady’s best play always came with the game on the line.

You can flip it if you want and say that most of those close SB’s were due to Brady and the offense not putting up the points, but I’m exhausted arguing with people over the past. I’m thankful for what we had, and understand it had to end. I’m ready to move on and will keep wishing for the best going forward. I’ll join all the others on the lose all hope bandwagon if by November everything is in the gutter. That is if I can find most of those guys. I’m sure most of them will be down south in Tampa Bay and I’m a washed up, outta shape middle aged man. I ain’t got time for that kinda trip.

Wow. You’re right. We’d have won 9 SBs if we had a better QB than Brady. Because of his weak ass play we only won 6 and some of those were close calls, like that Atlanta game. You’re absolutely right.

You’re about to get a wake-up call as you’re so spoilt watching Brady that you are implying QB could have been improved all these years. Time to face reality.

Our last SB was won on the back of the Defense.

We never get to that SB without Brady, especially that AFCCG in Arrowhead. You know, the 37-31 win. With 4 lead changes in 4th Q. And Brady converting three different 3rd and 10 in the OT drive to secure the win. Yeah, that wasn’t the defense and no other QB does that. We’re all just spoilt.
