I am soooo looking forward to Sunday's Pats/Skins game to hear the Red Sox chant. Man, I can hardly wait!
Couple of thoughts regarding this discussion.
1. To be a REAL Patriots fan, you must also be a fan of all the New England professional teams
2. Patriots fans are phony if they root for the Yankess, Lakers or Canadiens
3. I guess you can root for these teams but you could only call yourself a Patriots fan which is not as pure as a NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS FAN!
4. You must have lived in New England or born of New England bread parents to be a true Patriots fan...newbies have to earn their citizenship in Patriots Nation.
5. Finally, you can not be upset by cheers for the Red Sox in any venue on the face of this earth.
You may ask yourself, "what gives PatriotsReign the right to say this?"
It is because I am the rule maker! Hey, somebody's gotta do it!
Reign,
I am not sure if you were being sarcastic or not, but everyone of those rules makes perfect sense to me!
I would modify them slightly as follows:
1. To be a REAL BOSTON SPORTS FAN, you must be a fan of all the New England professional teams AND college teams.
2. ANYONE who roots for the Yankees, Lakers or Canadiens is a complete jack a s s and there really is no hope for them anyway, so why even pay attention to them.
3. You can root for whoever you want, but if the Patriots are just one piece of your multi-regional sports loyalties, then you are NOT a TRUE BOSTON SPORTS fan. Suck off our tit if it makes oyu happy, but keep your mouth shut when it comes to serious sports conversations among our elitist fraternity.
4. If you were NOT born in New England, you are already at a considerable disadvantage culturally, spiritually and emotionally, but we'll ALLOW you to root for our teams if you show the old schoolers the proper respect.
You can earn membership in PATRIOT NATION, but it's not going to be as easy as coming on board in 2003 and buying a Rodney Harrison jersey from the Pro Shop. Qualifications for this honor can only be communicated in secret to preserve the integrity of this ancient and honored society.
5. Finally, once you understand what it is we're talking about here, you'll find yourself chanting "Let's Go, Red Sox" in your head as you drive down the street with no one else in the truck. Once this happens, YOU HAVE ARRIVED!
