A few weeks ago, someone wondered what I meant by my thought that people were panicked...

I am not saying we shouldn’t be concerned with Covid, but I am saying that I doubt limiting movement will assure the containment of the virus. Pretty confident that it’s too late.

Having said that, I still maintain the panic is more dangerous than the virus itself, to most.

social distancing and all of these other methods being used to mitigate is to slow the transmission a bit to flatten the curve/rate of people getting it so that hospitals are not overwhelmed.. so lots of what they're doing will actually make this pandemic last for a longer period of time, but it will be more controlled and not create a massive spike in people all rushing to hospitals.. creaitng a massive public health crisis where hospitals are overwhelmed and unable to treat everyone... they will have to start making War time triage type decisions on who lives and dies.. Crazy you say? It's happening in Italy RIGHT NOW.

If there was ever a case to be made for universal healthcare, this is it. Some people don't even want to go to the doctors because they cant afford the massive medical bills, and can't afford to be put into a quarantine for 2+ weeks.. so they're not getting treatment and continuing to spread the virus

China Airlines jets were still coming into LAX - because they were full of US citizens, you think that makes a difference because of nationality with regard to spreading a virus? South Korea never slowed traffic, nor Italy until now - and no, they were not testing, or even screening most entering. There are about 100,000 US citizens in China at any given time - and the bans had dozens of "exemptions" for aliens entering.

I suppose you think this "European ban" will make a difference, too.

Italy is getting totally f***ed right now from this virus.. its basically shut down the entire northern part of their country and has overwhelmed their healthcare system (a system way better than the one here in america!). Last night, the President said "all travel from Europe is suspended as of Friday."

Know what happened in Europe this morning before America woke up? A run on tickets, mostly by Americans, desperate to get out before the deadline. They were paying huge premiums for tickets.

Oh wait, they didn't have to. American travel isn't suspended. Oops, sorry, forgot to mention it.

Today, the President said they have very strict testing protocols in place for anyone coming in from affected areas. Yeah, no they don't. A reporter immediately explained that he just got in from Lombardy and was shocked that no one even asked him a question at the airport.

That's because it doesn't begin until midnight tomorrow night.
