$30m for Brady as per Rap

if he doesn't care about money, he should have no problem playing for the minimum provided the pats spend the 30M on passing targets

Yup, and Bill...68 in April...is going to coach forever apparently. Just gonna rebuild this thing, and keep racking up SBs into his 80s!

I’d be shocked if Deus’s take doesn’t happen. I find it hilarious, and mind-blowing how many people actually think Brady will cripple the cap after all these years clearly understanding it, and taking the discounts to produce a better team.

The man is an obsessive maniac about winning, and being the best. Now it’s going to be just about money all of a sudden? Sure.

You might be right, but acting like you know for sure is the actual hilarious thing.

It's also just simple math leading some of us to the opposite conclusion. There's cap space for Brady and not much else. You can only spread cap hits if it's a longer term deal, and the longer the deal is, the less I like it for the team. Therefore, if we keep Brady, it is highly likely we don't have much cap space to work with.

But yeah, you totally know what's going to happen.

They pissed him off last year with the deal they gave him. Incentive laden one year deal. Looks like he took it as a sign of disrespect and now he wants to put the screws to them and let them know he can get top dollar if he wanted to.

Which I think Gruden and Mayock will make a hell of a pitch.

A few more bucks sure but I don’t believe for a second it’s $30m.

I'm not sure whether this report is a smokescreen to save face or real negotiations. If you look at what NFL QBs get, $30m isn't ridiculous, even for a 43 y/o QB. Guys like Goff, Wentz, and Big Ben make more than $30m per. I'd rather have Brady, though I don't see how they can "get him weapons" and pay him $30m+.

if it pissed him off, why did he sign it?

it most certainly affects the ability to make improvements on the rest of the roster

The incentive laden deal was prior to 2018, not this one. Presumably he signed it because he thought he’d get his long term deal prior to 2019.

The 2019 deal wasn’t incentive laden. It provided him with a raise. It just wasn’t a multi year deal. Presumably he signed it because it gave him more guaranteed money and because it included the franchise tag prohibition, which did not exist in his prior deal.

30m for an old ass man. So dumb
Do you think “old ass man” Brady is likely to be a top 5 QB in the NFL next season? I do, and $30m is the going rate for those guys, so I pay it. The issue is just making sure you don’t have a cap crippling dead cap hit if you give him a multi year deal and he declines such that he’s no longer a top 5 QB.

Brady is coming back to NE.

Its done.

You sound so sure of this, is there something I missed. I really hope you're right, I just wish we would know one way or another for certain.

As an aside, I’ll note that last night’s halftime show was a quality one for any old ass-man.

I don't........he hasn't been a top 5 QB the last 2 years

his legacy would have been best if he hung it up after beating the Rams

You did not see the Brady hulu commercial?

or his daughters comments?

Actually I just read his daughters comments, and no I did not see the ad till much later on. ( watched it on youtube ).In Canada they don't show the US commercials during SB, they show Canadian ads . Now it makes sense, I just wish the Pats would make an official announcement soon !

You’d think that, but here were some grumpy people in the GDT that weren’t fans.

On the other hand, my grandpa is 104 and he liked it! Not for the music though...
