Haven’t some of you learned anything the past 20 years when it comes to the Patriots.

They don’t negotiate through the media.

Their NOT the Boston Redsox!!

They could improve the WR position by grabbing a couple of elementary school kids off the playground.

I dunno man, elementary school kids are total JAGs, probably only marginally better than Sanu.

I would’ve been ecstatic with a guy like Kenbrell Thompkins, and that’s really saying something.

Demaryious Thomas, the player that so many here said was done, had 36 catches in 11 games, and that includes some games with the clown show that was the NYJ backup QB situation. So he'd have been the Patriots #2 WR in terms of both catches and yards.

$90 million for Brady .... no way he takes a 1 year deal ... 2 maybe.

Brady has earned it.

Sure his game is on the decline, but if the man wants to play another year and we can afford it sure pay him.
I do however want the team to get him some weapons.

Players like Harry are not game changers and JE11 getting older doesn’t help. Brady will need a lot of help from this group.

I rather see Brady retire a Patriot.

I understand it’s business, so if he leaves he leaves and I will just get over it, still will always cheer for a Brady and cherish my Jerseys.

NE is going to have to do two years if they want him to stay. It’s going to be interesting to see if they’ll commit to that.

I am trying to be calm but IT is hard to figure out how they want to pay Tom such amount of money and promise him legit weapons at the same time. I assume these legit weapons want to earn something as well, don't they?

AB will come for vet min

Unless Schefter reports it, I take this with a grain of salt. But paying a 43 year old $30 million per year is a bit rich for my blood. How are they going to afford a legit TE, and at least two more receivers? And why would T.B. choose to come back without a guarantee that he won't be working with junk next year?

It is also reported that the Pats will "beef up" the offensive weapons, but not sure how they will do that and maintain their D as well...

But there are those who believe that the "Cap is Crap".. which I have never subscribed to..

But all of has to do with the details..

When reports like this come out you have to ask yourself why. I don't think this report makes it likelier that Brady comes back personally.

Clearly they want Brady back (within their parameters), but this seems to be preparing the ground in the event Brady leaves. The public "don't blame us, we offered $30m+" campaign has started. Make sure everyone knows that Brady chose to leave and the divorce is his fault.

The addendum about Brady wanting assurances about his weapons is interesting, as Bill might give in on money (hence the report), but he isn't going to be dictated to about personnel decisions, which is what Brady wants apparently.

You guys really believe this? Brady doesn’t want money. He’s already rich enough that being richer doesn’t even matter. I bet all his other endorsements and investments (not to mention Giselle’s) dwarf whatever the Salary will be.

He wants weapons. He wants to win.

Doesn't he want money as a mark of respect?

How will the Pats afford good WRs if they pay Brady 30 mil per?

Nevermind

You have to find good WRs first.

I think we grab Emmanuel Sanders

I really don't think the money matters - except insomuch as it has to be "respectable" in order to not run afoul of the players' union and the NFL office. So, he couldn't say he will play for $5M/yr, as long as they spend the other $25M on offensive weapons for him.

What we have heard from him consistently is that he loves the game, loves to compete, but mostly loves to WIN. For him, the value of winning is much greater than the value of money. Money comes and goes, but winning Super Bowls is timeless. He knows the window is closing and he wants to know that the organization (Kraft/Belichik) want to win as badly as he does.

I think realistically, he knows he is less able to carry the team on his shoulders and wants them to provide weapons that make it more practical for him to perform by tipping the scales in favor of the receivers, instead of the passer.

That seems like a pretty reasonable position to take, because it benefits all involved. If they have been giving him corporate-speak mumble-f*ck answers about contracts and salary cap, I can see how that would frustrate him.

It isn't about the money - it's about the rings. And I think everyone's highest probability option for more rings is getting a deal done to stay.

You won’t get through to many people. They’ve apparently been naive enough to buy-in to the media/Brady haters 20-years of hogwash that TB’s a replaceable cog in the system. People are going to be blown away by the idea that Belichick is brilliant, but coaching brilliance gets you nowhere without an incredible player like this.

Yup, and Bill...68 in April...is going to coach forever apparently. Just gonna rebuild this thing, and keep racking up SBs into his 80s!

I’d be shocked if Deus’s take doesn’t happen. I find it hilarious, and mind-blowing how many people actually think Brady will cripple the cap after all these years clearly understanding it, and taking the discounts to produce a better team.

The man is an obsessive maniac about winning, and being the best. Now it’s going to be just about money all of a sudden? Sure.
