Bill's take

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. -- Comments from Bill Belichick's post-game press conference:

Opening statement
"Well, it was a good win today. I thought our team played well offensively, especially. We moved the ball and scored a lot of points. It's something we haven't done very much of down here, so it's good to feel that and experience that. Things tightened up there a little bit at the end, but we had a nice drive there, hit Wes [Welker] on that last touchdown, and I felt like we needed that.
We didn't tackle very well defensively all day, particularly in the second half. A lot less than impressive. But overall, when you score those kind of points, you have a chance. The guys did a real good job offensively."
Doesn't sound like Bill was happy about the defensive effort in the second half.
Wait one damn minute. You mean the shoddy tackling wasn't on purpose to "avoid injury"? The shoddy tackling wasn't because the Pats were in a "prevent vanilla defense"? The shoddy tackling wasn't because the Pats had a large lead? The shoddy tackling didn't just occur in the second half but also happened in the first half while the game was still in doubt? Damn....you mean the homers are wrong? How shocking...not.
He didn't sound like he cared all that much. Basically a "this was a preseason game, the starters did well in the second half and then we cruised through the first half and they never had a chance."
The Patriots beat an undefeated team last week and played hugely well against the Chargers in the second week of the season. Their defense is one of the best in the league. Give it a rest, Chicken Littles.
Ladies and gentlemen, we have a new idiotic excuse to explain the Pats' defense shoddy play - Belichick considered this to be a "preseason game". Points for trying, not for logic.
Yeah, the Pats had nothing to do with stopping Brown on that pitch out, or the pressure on Lemon that made him fumble. Nope, all the fault of the Dolphins. You are a moron, and besides your little friend, everyone in this thread agrees.
If the Pats defense was as bad as you make it out to be, there would not have been a 35 point lead in the first half. Period. I'm sick of this crap.
Ah...the desperate tactic of those without a valid argument "everyone else agrees with me, you're in the minority"..
Newsflash: Validity isn't determined by popularity.
Pats did stop Brown on the pitchout but it was a dreadful playcall as the Dolphins had been running successfully right at the Pats. Pressure on Lemon didn't make Lemon fumble, he essentially dropped the ball.
What you fail to understand as you fall back on the homer refrain of "there was a 35 pt lead so this means the Pats D is good" is that the 35 pt lead was a consequence of the Dolphins awful offense and the Pats stellar offense. If the Dolphins had an average offense, they would have scored at least 21 in the first half. Also, the Pats would have scored LESS because they would have had fewer chances on offense. Thus, there wouldn't have been a 35 pt lead. Get it now??? If not, at least try to grasp this very simple concept. The Pats only play the Dolphins once more...they won't be seeing them in the playoffs.
Actually, YES, I do. The Colts team can't beat the Pats RUNNING the ball. Throwing, yes, but not running. And the Pats will focus on taking that away.
YOU need to wake the FU*K up. The Pats #1 defense gave up 14 points. 7 in the 1st half and 7 in the 2nd. Cassel and the #2 offense gave up a TD with the interception and the 2nd string defense gave up one.
LMFAO - you really are stupid if you honestly believe that the Pats D would stop the Colts playing as they did today. Manning isn't going to miss the wide open receivers as Lemon did today. Secondly, if the Dolphin's Oline can get Ronnie Brown 4.5 yards a carry, then you can bet that Addai will probably have close to 200 yards running behind Indy's Oline.
I really wish people like yourself and PF1996 and STCJones would stfu, step back, and review the game in a sensible perspective instead of being idiots and making stupid claims based on changes in the schemes because the lead was so great.
What stupid claims have I made? The Pats D was atrocious from the START of the game. This is a fact regardless of how much you continually ignore it.
The Pats were UP 42-7 AT THE HALF. The Pats did not run up the score like they could have. The Pats defense played almost the entire second half in a VANILLA PREVENT defense. They weren't bumping the receivers at the line or anything. And, in the 4th quarter, Santonio Thomas and LeKevin Smith were on the field with Jarvis Green.
LMFAO. You're too funny. The Pats weren't bumping receivers at ANY POINT during the game, not in the 1st qtr nor in the 2nd qtr. Again, you keep harping on the second half but the atrocious play occurred from the time the Pats' D stepped onto the field, when the majority of the starters were out there.
So, while I am not thrilled at the Pats letting the Phins score 28 points, I put it in perspective. You yahoos who think you have a brain might want to step back and try it. You might actually become enlightened.
translated: "I'm right and you're wrong, because I say so", with a 2nd grade insult thrown in for good measure. Yep, definitely a righty.
Why does the Defense need to get better when Pats are
outscoring their OPP. by 21 Pts a game?
Ah....well perhaps because all of the teams the Pats will play from now till the end of the season and in the playoffs aren't ATROCIOUS like the Dolphins. Therefore...it's unlikely that the Pats will outscore them by 21 points because the offenses of THOSE teams will HAVE THE BALL for LONG PERIODS and SCORE on the Pats Defense. Hope you can wrap your "brain" around the concept.
