Jarrett Stidham Gets First Team Work To Allow Brady To Recuperate

If we're as close to the end as people are afraid we are we need to get Stidham as much first team work as possible

How did I not realize his name was Jarrett

With a win against Buffalo (and some big help from Chicago), he might see significant reps in a GAME next week. I think that would be ideal.

I don't think this says anything good about his development. If Stidham is terrible, which he may or may not be, he'd still be getting these reps out of necessity.

At least his thumb isn't broken list Brisset:mad:

That was my first thought as well, but it is giving him an opportunity to develop. Whether he will or not who knows.

Even though Brady is hurt I think it's also them low key wanting to check up on Stidham and how he does with 1st team reps maybe as a measure for what they might do in the offseason.

Stidham was the most accurate rookie QB at training camp since Howe started tracking those stats. He had a 67% comp pct. & 100+ passer rating in the preseason with dropped TDs & dropped INTs.

I agree they may need to evaluate him in any way possible for 2020. The scenario where the Bears beat the Chiefs & the Pats beat the Bills would allow Brady to get two weeks of rest and the team to evaluate Stidham in the regular season.

With a more mobile QB, offense might have a shot at converting a 3rd down or two.

Very excited for Jarred...

Not a good thing if the issue with Brady and his receivers is chemistry. They need all the reps they can get together.

Interesting that Tom is showing signs of being human (i.e. capable of a limiting injury). Probably be a few more years before he starts breaking down like a 27 year old Roethlisburger.

This definitely hurts Tom’s leverage come the offseason.

BB's press conference about the Bills at the beginning of the week discussed this situation, and not just in reference to this week. Mostly it concerned the decision to have three quarterbacks, and discussed the problem of having just one when your first-string QB was injured or limited. The backup, in this case Stidham, would have to run both the first-string offense and the scout-team offense, and it's difficult to do both well. That's why they have Kessler.

And have had him for most of the season, so I imagine this is a situation they envisaged -- Brady out or limited, need two more quarterbacks. I had been wondering why they had Kessler, when limited roster spots have led to them waiving key players who could have helped (and still might have been able to help if they had them). This is why.

Eh, I suppose it's possible, and if the offense had been humming all season I'd maybe even say it's probable. But right now, with how out of sync things have been (some improvement last week not withstanding), if Brady were healthy I'd think they'd want as much practice time with him as possible to get the rhythm going. There aren't many games left to figure out what you can do before the playoffs come, and this was the time last year that they really started shifting their identity.

3 weeks of rest, basically - which would be huge.

yay Jarrett.
