Who is "Shades of Stephenson"? That's not a board name. I am new here.

If you are new, welcome.

If you are not....Best advice: Deny, deny, deny...

disagree..so may majors are basically worthless and all the student gets is a good brain washing..College for most is a big scam..

True, but you can get a degree for pretty good value in certain ways. I can say that I've worked alongside those who went to college and those who have not, and it's pretty clear with the differences.

I agree that a specialized degree is more vital today than a generic undergrad degree.

In the end, I just don't think Goodell as is intelligent as he wants the public to think he is. And, John Elway, in no way shape or form has an Economics degree from Stanford. He has operated not knowing what the salary cap means.

That might be the most pompous thing I have ever read on here. There are lots of highly intelligent people without a degree. MENSA has member from every walk of life, truck drivers, electricians, welders. Just because someone doesn't get a degree doesn't mean the unable to learn.
Not to disagree with you at all but Mensa is not a good example because Mensa is based upon intelligence, not education and the 2 are very different

A correlation between a college degree and intelligence is not a causation.
For many years in this country a high proportion of good students went to college.
Intelligence is more likely to cause a college degree than a college degree is to cause intelligence. For any one individual that choice is irrelevant to gauge their intelligence.

What's the latest? I'm deprived of ****s to give.

True. One of my closest childhood friends is a stay at home dad. Married a doctor. Did absolutely nothing in K-12 but always had good grades. Never studied. Didn't go to college. Did a lot of drugs too. Never really had a legit job and is in his late 40s. He reads a lot. Always able to learn things and figure things out faster than the rest of us. He has an IQ in the low 140s. He looked at joining Mensa but his life or ego do not require it so he won't.

He is quite frankly the laziest person I know.

But what does Sharks of Vegas think? :D

I see our old friend Sharks twitter account hasn't been updated in almost 3 years and their website no longer exists. Looks like their sports or Wells Report prognostications weren’t enough to stay in business. Or RIP?

I thin it depends. I am definitely better, smarter, wiser, more knowledgeable and better off with the college experience.

Most children's/young adult's brains aren't fully formed until about age 22.

It would have been really hard interviewing without having a leg to stand on, unless going to some trade school to become a plumber, welder, electrician, etc, which are good careers too.

“Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent. The slogan Press On! has solved and always will solve the problems of the human race.”
― Calvin Coolidge

Of course there's all manner of misdirected persistence and determination, so there's that to consider.

The difference being your friend reads a lot...and must have educated himself that way. Too many people don't do that. And this is not limited to non-college folks. College grads who go through 4 years without learning or mastering anything are just as uneducated and have a lot more debt. Roger Goodell is a great example of someone who went through college and likely didn't learn anything....

Yea I don't want to paint him as a Good Will Hunting type but he does read a fair amount and all kinds of different material.

I'd post the whole article but @shmessy will tell Ian on me for doing it...
Could you please post the quote where it says that the scout couldn’t see what was happening (or whatever)? That would be very useful

From the scout’s location in the third row, he eventually noticed the crew had moved locations but couldn’t decipher what the crew had been shooting due to the angle between them. The scout was handling his own game-day job responsibilities.

The camera was attached to a monitor, so anyone in close proximity could see what the crew was shooting. And for eight minutes while the camera was fixed on the Bengals sideline, a Bengals employee recorded video of that monitor before reporting the activity to security.

The scout didn’t see the crew again until the two-minute warning in the second quarter when they were being interviewed about the incident.

So to answer the one remaining question, no, the scout was not in position to notice the crew was shooting video of the sideline

I woke up today and am seeing conflicting reports/posts.. Does it lok like we are innocent? If so am glad this saga can be over soon. I want to focus on Bengals game!

Wow SAS w some real talk

that last point is the money shot.

Sports cheaters always have whistleblowers. If we were cheating no reason why there wouldn’t be a whistleblower on us either. Not one ex Patriot employee, even those who have not left on great terms has ever said they are aware the Patriots cheat, or they have seen it happen, or they did it themselves.

Not one. Says it all...

they will be hit with something based on their admission on Monday night. But yeah it looks like it’s not the massive scandal that many anticipated it would be when they heard the words “Patriots” and “videotaping”

It's not necessarily, but it's the continuous growth in education from high school and onward.

What's next, you dropped out of high school and it was a good move?

You seem a bit insecure, even though college may not be for everyone, sure.
Yeah, I’m an idiot savant. Seriously, take people as they come formal education or not. Intelligence comes in all sizes and speeds. That’s all.
