I used to look forward to Bedard on 98.5...

Lloyko's gone. What more was supposed to be done?
Bedard said he'd have some sort of investigation into it & apparently never did. Not the worst thing but not a good look either. Considering he brought up the having an "investigation".

given my overall posting history, someone like yourself, who claims that he'll accept all criticisms of the team, should know better than to question my being a fan.

Your overall posting history? Of attacking anyone who disagrees with you? LOL Heck, you're on record as saying you're done with the team when Brady leaves. Some Patriots fan. But keep talking... all is clear when you speak, for:

:)

Loyko-gate? Drawing a blank on that one.

Loyko was found to have some racist and homophobic tweets in the past. Bedard first defended him and as it became more and more apparent that it was not an isolated issue he loudly proclaimed that there would be an investigation.

Which was never resolved or talked about again. Same as Loyko.

Ok, and I hear what you're saying, but why would he investigate someone who was gone?

Ok, so the issue here is that you're all about selective reading.

LOL Heck, you're on record as saying you're done with the team when Brady leaves. Some Patriots fan.

What I've said is that the the NFL has become such a joke under Goodell that, once Brady's done, I'm gone until Goodell is gone, because his nonsense is ruining the game. In other words, my issue is with the league, not the team.

And the rest of your post is just garbage similar to that ignorant attack, so it's not worth addressing further.

Yup. Racist tweets. That guy was a clown car.

Twitter is just unbearable now. I am 31 and I have 15 year old white kids calling me a n****. Hide behind a computer all they want but it's brutal.

Then the 19 year old pats fans who say no SB without AB...ect ect.

It's awful

Bring back MySpace.
I take the train a lot so I'm always around some type of creature. Yesterday two whites kids no older than 18 used the N word towards each other. Both were dead serious & it's obviously not the first time. All I could do was look in utter disgust bc they were getting off the train or I would have certainly f'd w them for as long as they were there.

Two weeks ago someone beside me used it. I turn around & say "you're Asian & have a manicure" how tf haven't you got the **** beat out of you by one of these black kids. Probably 20 black kids, guys coming from work. Everyone just laughed. Probably at me but I'm hardly the problem in this fuxkin equation. Anyway I'm blaming the black man. Start slapping these lil yuppie white cookie cutter kids around & everyone else using it. Or just not use it bc it's almost 2020 & if there's one word that should be retired from the streets its that one.

I wonder how Bedard was going to go about investigating Loyko. Was he going to call in character witnesses and trying to establish an alibi for where Loyko was on the dates and times that those Tweets were posted? Was a plea deal offered?

I'm honestly not certain abt everything.
I think this was a matter of if anyone there saw the tweets, went through Mike's stuff, ignored it or just didn't bother.
I think it was abt the hiring process. Not sure if the tweets were super old, more recent or w/e.

Again I think it was abt being screened to work there.

I agree with DI on this. Here's the thing. You don't have to always agree with someone's point of view to like him. I'm a subscriber, and Bedard pisses me off on occasion, but so WHAT! What I appreciate about Bedard is that he give an opinion and THEN backs it up with facts that support his position. He doesn't just spout out opinions just to troll them. These are things he BELIEVES in. If I disagree, he will argue his point honestly and never blows people off who are willing to back up their own point of view with data. That's all you can ask of a reporter/analyst. Why would you want to hear from someone who just tells you what you want to hear.

I don't, Ken... you're misinterpreting me. And Tuesdays at 2pm has been appointment listening for me for a while now. I'm not saying his analysis was off or even wrong. I'm saying it was nasty and deliberately negative. It's like he's trying to follow the Felger/Mazz 'piss everybody off to get attention' scheme.

Example: his comments on Gilmore. They were also dismissive, to the point where I believe he said the Pats defense wouldn't skip a beat WITHOUT Gilmore. That's clearly provocative. (which was also apparent in his tone)

BUT... it wasn't backed up with anything: stats, comps... just seemed like a deliberate troll IMHO.

Which I guess worked, because here I am complaining about it. d%#*!@t! Get that fish hook out of my lip! LOL

That's where I'm getting a bit confused here. I'm not sure what level of investigation is supposed to happen here. If you assume that bad words have no SOL, and you're cool with canning people over old bad think and bad words, the investigating is almost perfunctory:

"Did you post them?"
- Yes
"Investigation over. You're fired."

"Did you post them?
- No, my account was hacked.
"Does Twitter agree that your account was hacked?"
- Well, no, but...
"Investigation over. You're fired."

I like Bedard, even when I disagree with him. He knows a lot more about football than most journalists and he tries to provide a more nuanced perspective, using actual plays to support his view. Sometimes I get bored because his analysis is slow, but he realizes his audience has varied levels of knowledge and that's good.

He also knows more than just catchphrases used with Madden and other terms that many journalists just throw around. He's pretty knowledgeable about OL/DL technique. He can be really good at watching the all-22 and often points out some interesting stuff.

Can someone remind me who the Patsfans dot com approved media figures are

xample: his comments on Gilmore. They were also dismissive, to the point where I believe he said the Pats defense wouldn't skip a beat. And it wasn't backed up with anything: stats, comps... just a deliberate troll IMHO.

See, here's an example of what I'm talking about with people like you (you specifically in this case). Bedard was saying that the defense is so good this year, and so deep, that even losing Gilmore wouldn't derail it. But you can't accept that for some reason, so you take what was an obviously positive assessment of the defense, and you've spun it as if Bedard was dismissing Gilmore and trolling.

To repeat the problem. In the days after the Patriots shut down the Cowboys offense even without Jason McCourty:

Bedard - This defense is so good, and so deep, that even losing Gilmore wouldn't cause it to slow down.
Oldrover - BEDARD'S being mean to the Patriots! , He's being negative and nasty! He's trolling!!!

Mike Reiss (Until he posts 2 negative Patriots stories in a row. On that day, he'll have to go.)
That's it.

He pissed a bunch of people off last week for saying the Patriots weren't going to re-sign Brown...

Bedard's being pretty straight up on this. Naturally, the team homers find this problematic.

But Bedard is who he is. He's a hit or miss analyst who focuses more on line play than most, wh'so historically blamed Brady for things that were the fault of other players (he's mostly not doing that this year, because the problems elsewhere have been so obvious), and who doesn't suffer the foolishness of Felger/Mazz particularly well.

He's not anywhere near perfect and, if you find yourself too often in agreement with him, you can bet you're getting some stuff wrong, but the O.P. is way off base.
I always listen to Bedard on his Tuesday appearance and usually come away feeling better informed. For instance, today his OL breakdown quantifying Wynn's performance vs. Dallas.

You know who I find isn't too bad, and is more pro-Patriots than most, is Mutt at Night on 93.7 (and I didn't like him on whatever show he was part of before). He's mellow, talks rationally about the Patriots and I find I can listen to him, at least most of the time, if I am driving after 6:00 p.m. The person I find perhaps most INSUFFERABLE is Adam Jones on 98.5. Aye caramba what a negative Nancy boy who takes whatever the news of the day is, applies the most negative, anti-Pats interpretation there can be, and runs with it, repeating himself ad nauseum. He brings less than nothing to the table.

I wish one of the sports radio stations would approach this board or any group of (mostly) rational fans and put a show on, even if it was one night a week, with actual fans of the team having a discussion about the Pats. I bet it would be a big ratings booster, despite the prevailing opinion that negative sensationalism sells in sports radio.

Absolutely.
