AB toying with us again

how can he be put on the exempt list? Surely the NFL knows what a bad precedent it would be. That's why presumption of innocence is important, because then any partner could threaten a player with being suspended and placed on the exempt list solely based on an accusation.

he is like the crazy ex that wont leave you alone ... and the one you want to get back with precisely because you know how sooo good ... but still crazy ... so you know you shouldn't ... but still want to ...
He is insane.

But I could see resigning him the week before the first playoff game. If you can contain his crazy for three weeks, a tall order, you have an elite player to help the team.

Anyone listen to 98.5 this morning, after ABs posts? Zolak just said on that while previously his sources said that it wasn't going to happen, one of his sources who is "tied in" now says that it "could be in play". Reports were that the meeting went "as well as possible" last week with the NFL. The timing of this apology is certainly interesting. Particularly when the Pats quarterback is clinically depressed.

Damn it, AB. You knew that I couldn’t quit you!

PS. For those of you who think that it is impossible that the league will allow him to play again this year:

I understand that the charges were dropped but this guy was arrested and charged and he spent all of one week on the exempt list. AB has been sued, not charged. Never arrested.

I don't mind them signing A.B. But knowing A.B.'s history, I don't understand why:

1. They paid him that much up front.
2. Releasing Thomas.

Had # 1 not happened, and they got A.B. for a cheaper price, they had more room at the deadline to make moves.

Why release Thomas? Why release Gordon? To me both of these guys could've helped. This offense is better with either. Or both.

Even if the Pats brought him back this season, he's likely to get suspended by the league. Wouldn't be against a reunion next year though.

I hate to **** on everyone's parade, but if AB really was to come back, we would have to re-sign him, not just reinstate him. Dead money cannot be "undeaded."

So if he wants to come back for the vet's min... fine. But will he really do that?

Don't know the ins and outs... but it seems he might... if the Pats paid him the vet minimum for two years, and didn't continue to attempt to withhold what they agreed to the first time around. Essentially $10mil for 1.3 years.

I mean he would probably agree to the minimum if the Patriots agreed to drop their grievance trying to get the money from the previous contract back. However, this is not an opinion on whether the Patriots would ever entertain bringing Brown back.

While refusing to reveal his sources, Felger reported there's a "rumble" from people "connected to the situation" about AB coming back to the Pats, and that Brown's apology to Kraft didn't just come out of nowhere.

his contract was $9m bonus, $6m salary. Pats agree to pay his bonus (already counting against the cap as dead money) and will pay a prorata $6m annualized salary. I don’t see a reason why Brown would say no, and from the Pats perspective they’re in a similar position to where they are now on the 2019 cap (possibility for bonus relief in 2020 will disappear though).

Seems like a good time to restructure and extend Brady ... ;)

Let's hope it unfolds this way if so.

Only the fraudster stands in our way, oh- and Orchid Bob's ego.

The ball is in Bendover Bob’s court....

Let’s go Bobby. Bring him back.

Or even Player's lesser-known follow-up hit...

It’s Felger. He doesn’t have anyone connected to the Patriots.

He should offer Kraft a handy.

Why wouldn’t he? The He drops the Grievance, Patriots pay his 9m and he signs for league Minimum.

It can be done.

I think he really means it, but the guy is just unstable. Soon enough he'll be back to having an axe to grind. What I will say for him, though, is that the NFL keeping him in limbo for this long re: punishment is grade A horseshit. They should have conducted their investigation and reached whatever conclusion they were going to reach well before now, and at this point it sure looks like they're just deliberately sabotaging his career. I don't want him back here, but that's still pretty messed up in its own right.

It's really a shame, because watching an overlooked 7th rounder turn into one of the best WRs of all time should have been an awesome story.
