If the LT was playing well the OL would be fine. We can’t even call a full game. We are running on 3rd and 7. That’s not because of cannon karras or mason.
Those designed roll-outs just to keep Tom safe are f-ing DOA plays.

Fine is a relative term. As @Tony2046 well knows I've copyrighted the term.

Over these past few games Newhouse has been exposed. Hes done. Wynn will help with protection and be a bit more assertive in the running game.

With that said there is no question Shaq is not playing to his normal level. He needs to.

Isn't communication to defense cut off before the snap? Why is this Philly coach holding up a sign with Julian's number on it?
View attachment 25149

That number has nothing to do with Edelman. It's a call sign for the defense that is flashed at the last possible minute, prior to the snap, so the offense doesn't have time to adjust or change plays.

The OL seemed to allow penetration across the board yesterday, from every angle and gap. Getting Wynn back will help, but there's much more to the OL's problems than LT.

I'm looking forward to the game OL breakdowns from the usual suspects to get more objective data than the eye test.

I'm afraid Wynn coming back isn't going to be enough. Brady isn't playing well. Biggest example is on the backwards pass from burkhead to Brady that ultimately fell incomplete deep to Dorsett. On that play Edelman is as open as it gets and I don't know how Brady didn't see him.

I and curious to see where mason ranks when it comes to run blocking compared to last year.

More Koolaid drinking

Like Harry the beast tearing up the NFL.
These aren’t very sharp takes. It was Harry’s first pro game. You don’t think Wynn will greatly improve the offensive line?

I get that some people pride themselves on being “objective,” but saying Wynn will help is “drinking kool-aid” is just stupid.

It’s not unreasonable that upgrading the vital LT position, that has been so putrid, will upgrade the play of others as well.

He didn’t see him because dorsett was his first read and when the first read is pork you throw to them. That’s how it works. The QB doesn’t monitor all 5 receivers and choose which one is most open.

I wish.

Do you remember more? We can have a breakdown.

I'll have to wait til later this week, to rewatch, but there were at least 4 SHORT bad dump offs (not counting throw aways). The underthrow to Edelman where he had his man beat, was almost picked, and he almost got the carom, and others.

Sanu returning punts is asking for trouble.

If Gunner can't be back there he's completely useless to the team.

Our defense looks great when they are attacking. Only time we're giving up drives is when we play read and react.

Brooks was great yesterday.

If I'm Brady, i'd be sour too after a day like yesterday. Brady's won more than any QB, the only thing left for him is to reach some offensive milestones or break some records. And he can't do that with this sh!tty OL.

I guess people don’t understand the concept of grading on a curve.
His play isn’t somehow better because he sucks.

I am not grading him on a curve.

The point is that his limitations are well known and he is doing what he is able to. From that point on you either a) replace him with someone more consistent or b) adjust for that by adding more blocking help/choose plays that don't expose his weaknesses that much/ect.

Since a) is apparently not an option because there is nothing better on the streets or on the bench the only thing to do is accept his limitations and play around him. My point is that as much as he has a glaring lack of athleticism the OC and QB are often not doing him any favours either with the play calling and his teammates with their execution.

Is it a surprise that screens to his side are more problematic ? No. But they still get called. And. So. On.

Now contrast this with two pro bowl levels lineman (Cannon and Mason) who are underachieving relative to what they have shown to be capable of and creating additional holes on the other side of the formation that also need to be plugged at times.

Newhouse is a backup level LT who should not be starting for extended stretches of games but the issue is with OL is that everyone except maybe Thuney is being inconsistent. He is giving up less than a sack per game and approximately the same amount of QB hits and pressures as Cannon while usually facing better pass rushers and yet he gets like 95% of the rage of people.

Again this is not about saying he is playing well but pointing out that people over exaggerate how bad he has been and then paint a weird pink picture of the times we had Waddle or Fleming as backups.

Straw man. He will help immensely.

It will give Brady a split second longer to get the ball out, but the interior line is what worries me. Mason has regressed and Karras is not starter material. This coupled with Gronk not being there to block has hurt a lot...

Its wishful thinking koolaid drinking.

You people act like Wynn is Willie Roaf. Ridiculous. Since when has 1 player made or broke the OL? Never has happened.

No, it's not but its not a given

your coach proves again he doesn't need brady, but it helps that brady can unload the ball so quickly and is perfect at not holding onto the ball, not throwing picks, even when he isn't at his best.... a decent brady is all your coach needs at this point. not sure if it's brady, the receivers, or a combination of things but this doesn't look like the pats who run up the score.

WTF? Ever heard of -- or watched -- John Hannah? In his last year, beat up as he was, he was literally responsible for 1,000 yards of rushing production. That's how much the fall off was the year after he retired.

That was a tough game against a nasty, physical team. The Eagles' defense is really good when healthy, which they were yesterday.

That game looked more like a Steelers-Raven game than anything else. Look at the vicious hits after the throw (Brady got dropped hard a couple of times), after the catch (Dorsett).

Tough, cold-weather, windy game.

They won.

The offense has no rhythm or identity, but they've still got time to get there.

Keep in mind, this is the THIRD GAME IN A ROW where the Pats are playing a team coming off a bye, and two of those games were on the road in two of the toughest towns to play in.
