I have the Slingbox Pro. Allows me to stay later at the office and enjoy the excessive cable package that sits in my home idle.

Works great. Tech support people were amazing.

I have one of the original ones. When there was only one model that could be used for any single device. TV, DVR, Cable Box, Sattelite Box etc. It works well. I once had it on my phone too but it was only as good as the cell phone reception and that is an awfully tiny screen.

Very simple setup. My father was in France a few years ago when the Pats and Colts were playing a night game. I had him download the player and I gave him the finder ID. He caught the game on the hotel's wireless connection.

I think his numbers there are only to get by the 10-character per post rule.

Slingbox uses a "Finder ID," which is a 16+ digit code that connects into your home cable/satellite. Or, alternatively, it connects in by IP address. What it does is take your home cable/satellite signal and broadcasts it over the internet. In theory, your friend could connect, but he would either be limited to whatever you are watching on your screen at home (which might be fine), or you would have to split your cable and dedicate a second signal box just for him.
