Kaepernick to get an all 32 team workout in Atlanta

Professional athletes don't add anything to the conversation. They're kids. Their education is limited (HS diploma or 1-2 years of a "studies" major). The only thing they understand is that they get a pat on the head (and money) from corporate sponsors when they push SJW non-sense.

Brick and mortar education is definitely not a prerequisite for being aware of and understanding social issues. Just about every left/right extreme nut job flashed in front of us on our screens touted as " leading authorities" usually have great educational resumes.

I'll take someone with common sense, an open mind and some good ole life experience over any of those Dr. Yahoos.

and now, another modern twist on an old favorite...

why did the chicken cross the road?

WTF do I care ? I HATE chickens...I see a chicken I run the goddamned stupid bird over..
This is a Public Service Announcement:
Chickens eat ticks. I don’t like ticks.

Thank you. You may now return to the regularly scheduled programming.

From what I understand Kaepernick isn't from "da hood" and never worked for the courts or the criminal justice system in any capacity. What qualifies him as an expert?

The same as any average citizen..? Are none of us allowed to weigh in then...?

Do you think he just has it out for police for no reason? Not the best route he could have taken but think he’s trying to make a point.

I think it’s clear by his actions off the field that he actually cares and isn’t just trying to seek attention.
I don't know how anyone could excuse the pig socks. I also like how he always makes sure there is always a camera around to capture his good deed.

Oh. He's not. But he's smart enough to go from warming the bench to getting paid to play the victim.

Alright how about this, what would Kaep have to do to convince you he’s genuine and actually cares?

A good start would be to donate every dollar hes raked in pushing his cause toward his cause rather than enriching himself.

Real basic question but do people think he's dissing America or trying to put attention on police brutality. Way too many have twisted what he did.

.

Talking up the virtues of Fidel Castro is an odd way of "putting attention on police brutality."

I mean, the guy clearly didn’t try to do that but if you choose to ignore his own words...

No, he clearly did try to do that. If that wasn't his goal, he'd have chosen another time to protest. You, and he, are trying to split the hair of saying "Well, I did that on purpose, but my REAL goal was...". But that dog won't hunt. If you deliberately do "A" to get to "B", you still deliberately did "A".

Boo this thread.

Boooooooooooooooooooooooooo

Yes, he's dissing America. Again, this is not up for debate. He said it himself.

I am not going to stand up to show pride in a flag for a country that oppresses black people and people of color. To me, this is bigger than football and it would be selfish on my part to look the other way. There are bodies in the street and people getting paid leave and getting away with murder.”

Colin Kaepernick explains why he sat during national anthem

No matter how often you people of the political left try pretending that Kaepernick didn't mean what he said, and didn't mean to do what he clearly meant to do he'll still have said what he said, and meant to do what he meant to do.

So, just realize that you can still insist that leftist causes are valid, while admitting that the words and actions of this particular participant are not worthy of your defense. At least not the dishonest defense you're trying to push. And before you, or anyone else, jumps down my throat about "political left", just realize that this case is about the actions of a member of the political left and his supporters. If someone decides to protest against legalized abortion by kneeling during the anthem and crapping all over the flag, the military, and the country in the process, I'll call that hypothetical clown out, too.

Now, can we get back to the more current football relevant portions of this discussion?

I just love how your calling card in every political discussion except this one is moral relativism but a ****ing flag is where you draw the line. Nobody's allowed to be offended or upset by anything except a piece of cloth.

And I love how badly you misread my postings. So we've both found something to love today.

Now, let's pull this thing back to the oddity of the current state of the situation, rather than the past portions.

Kap has flown his flag with that Castro stuff. How do communists tear down a nation? They divide and conquer playing different segments of society against each other. Racial politics is in their bag of tricks. One could easily laud the USA as a model of overcoming the racial divide. The agitators though have convinced the dupes that these problems are due to "racism" rather than spiritual and family breakdown leading to fatherless families leading to youth gangs, poverty and run-ins with the police in crime ridden areas that do not end well.
This feels like one of those b&w films from the 1950’s about the Cold War or the dangers of that crazy Marijuana drug. @primetime

I don't like when Athletes use the sporting event to protest.
They all have enough money to do it on their own time.
Media being what they are will pick it up to earn themselves some clicks.
It's not to hard to get attention to carry out whatever passions and speech they desire.

The McCourty twins are using their notoriety for social justice reform and other causes.
There are many athletes using their fame for all kinds of causes ... Kaep didn't do it right IMO.

This development IS odd. It seemed this whole thing finally went away and who but the NFL revives it arguably to their hurt. Are they under orders from unseen power brokers to add to the chaos and divisiveness the media has been stirring because of the upcoming presidential campaign season?

Yeah, I've heard reporters tossing out multiple theories. One that I found interesting, because it fits the general cowardice of sports league owners, is the theory that some teams have called the NFL asking about Kaepernick's status, and the league got tired of dealing with that, so it tossed this together to give cover to the individual teams that might have an interest in this guy.

The lawsuit theory bores me, since Kaepernick already tried that route.

The "enough time has passed" theory doesn't really move the needle for me, either, given how the NFL finally put the clamp on this by giving players the option of staying in locker room/tunnel during the anthem.

So, I don't know the reason, but I'm liking the cowardice angle, just based upon the past history of these clowns.

It might have something to do with the fact that Stephen A. Smith--and most of ESPN for that matter, but mostly Stephen A. Smith--is his personal PR department. Every single time a QB breaks a finger nail, I have to get a lecture from ESPN about Colin Kaepernick for 24 hours.

Is the irony lost on everyone that CP was supposedly protesting all this horrible racism, yet the only reason Stephen A. Smith gives a **** about CP is because he's black and engages in racial politics? Why isn't Stephen A. Smith representing the other 1,000 QBs on the borderline of making the NFL?

just no links to all the facts. Thx.
