Brady is having a great season

Short fields help with points not yards. This is self-evident.

Short fields help with points, and with yards to a lesser extent. Large numbers of turnovers help with yards, and points. This should be self-evident.

Historically I'd take him over anybody else. This year I'd take Wilson, Mahomes, Jimmy G, Watson, Brissett, and Jackson over him.
If you needed to win the Super Bowl this year, who do you want as your QB?

They've taken steps back from last year at TE, OL, Running game, WR through 8 games has been about the same, Kicker took a step back which affects points. Hopefully Sanu and Wynn can bump things up.

If your QB stats are average when everything else around you is a dumpster fire that's pretty good I guess. The pics have been frustrating...

Just a quick qbr comparison for fun. Derek Carr is a nice one with a 104.4qbr currently 6th best, Brady at 93.1 at 17th best.
Carr has 199comps/281attempts/70%/2202yds/14tds/4pics over 9 games
Brady 230comps/355attempts/64.8%/2536yds/14tds/5pics over 9 games

if I give Carr a pic to make there stats even(5pics a piece) he still has a 102.94qbr. So even though TB throws for 35 more yds a game and the same td/int ratio Carrs yards per attempt give him a 10 point swing.

If you don't use qbr as a measuring stick I don't think anyone in there right mind would put 8-10 of the guys above Brady this season. That being said I don't think he's been great but don't think many would be given the circumstances.

Should have kept Jimmy Baby.

BB the GM has failed BB the HC again.

Comparing this season to other Brady seasons and it is clearly a below average season. Maybe one of his worst. The only seasons for sure in which i believe he played below the level he is playing now are 2001 and 2009.

That being said he's still a top 5 QB, but only barely.

Given the supporting cast he has this is a top 5 season for him and if you disagree you're an *******.

No. You are wrong. If there’s a short field from a turnover, the Pats can only move the ball so much before scoring points. If there’s a 3 and out and the opposing team punts the ball, our offense has to move more. A dominant defense causing lots of turnovers, will reduce yards and increase points from short fields. Same dominant defense without turnovers would cause punts which would increase yards. Teams can move the ball much quicker and faster away from the red zone than near or in it as the field gets compressed and less has to be defended.

The fact we have had so many yards without much efficiency is that we have had so many drives. Since our running game sucks, we keep throwing a ton. Throwing and missing stops the clock. Running game eats the clock. We get off the field and our defense stops them again.

So we’re having a lot more drives and a lot more shots at having a scoring drive. And that allows Brady to figure it out snd move us down and eventually score. Us going no huddle also speeds it up. In total volume we’re producing lots of yards and points, because we’re speeding up the game. So both sides have lots of drives but we score more often.

For Brady this is a below average season thus far.

Never seen him misfire on so many passes that he typically makes.

He had misfires last year too.

I think it's as simple as he doesn't have the quality depth at the receiver or TE position.

You could argue at his age he lost .0000054 seconds of mental processing time but I don't think that's it.

You are wasting your time with him.

That's because of his Never Ending Set of Receivers and Offense having any stability. Every game seems to feel like Pre Season and just getting started. Without making excuses and just stating facts, O-Line deficiencies can't hide TB's hurry ups and doing Macarena in his pocket (Best) and Field can't be stretched out to open up other areas and free up Running Game and let's not forget Key Injuries there.

We All saw how Historically possible at start of season this Offense could have been with TB, JE, AB, JG Etc Etc Etc BUT mediots* were Screaming to put AB on Comm*Exempt List knowing Pats would've Smoked AFC and goodell* couldn't have KC out of it. There was Nothing Wrong with Brady Then but now all of sudden he became Ryan Leaf. Lets not get this mixed up.

As for Ravens, let's see how they do if they come to Gillette in Jan.for a Playoff game.
I'll STILL take TB ANY DAY over anyone else.

I disagree that quality is a major performance in what we are observing out there, I just think he had a lot of new weapons and he never had the time to work with them properly this off season.
Unfortunately this might continue till like week 13 when the required OTA's work might be a little caught up.

He's had worse depth at the receiver position before.

There are some plays that he has time to survey and throw and he simply misfires. Brady two years ago would hit those throws.

This is a 42 year old man. Some people have really bought into the idea that he's gonna beat father time lol.

I think he is still good enough to win us playoff games. But the idea that this is a great year thus far for Brady is ludicrous.

Also Garoppolo, but not Rodgers?

My brain didn't even allow me to continue thoughts after reading someone taking JB over Tom ****ing Brady this year.

Not sure there are enough drugs or alcohol in the world to make me think that.

No way has this been a top five season for Brady, even given the supporting cast.

His current numbers (on a per-game basis) and where they rank for his career (not counting 2000 or 2008 for obvious reasons):

- passer rating: 93.1 (11th best season)
- completion %: 64.8% (8th best season)
- TD %: 3.9% (18th best season)
- Int %: 1.4 (5th best season)
- yds/att: 7.1 (12th best season)
- Adj yds/att: 7.3 (13th best season)
- Net yds/att (includes sack #s): 6.56 (13th best season)
- Att/G: 39.4 (2nd most)
- Comp/G: 25.6 (1st most)
- Yds/G: 281.8 (7th most)
- TD/G: 1.6 (16th best)
- INT/G: 0.6 (7th best)

The blocking took a huge hit from last year, missing Andrews, Brown/Wynn, Gronk, Allen, and Develin. No doubt about it. But the RBs are the same, 3/5 of the line is the same, and they still have Edelman and Dorsett. Added Sanu. This isn't the same caliber of offensive talent as they've had in some years, but Brady's numbers are definitely not top 5 in his career. I don't know how to "adjust" these numbers for the personnel, but it would take major adjusting for these numbers to be in the top 5 of his career.

Look, there's nothing wrong with saying that we love Brady, that even now there's no QB I'd rather have running this team, that he's every bit good enough to win this team a Super Bowl even if he has to put the offense on his back, that he's had a perfectly fine year, while at the same time acknowledging that he hasn't been *great*, certainly not by TB standards.

Saying that doesn't make one a bad fan or a terrible person or a hater. It's just the reality.

So amount of practice time and age are the reasons even though statistically hes basically putting up the same numbers with a mediocre line, horrible TE and RB play?

Brady's numbers are definitely not top 5 in his career.

That's why I said 'given the supporting cast'. I wasn't saying his numbers were top 5.

That his numbers are where they are despite probably the worst OL he's ever played behind and all the turmoil at WR and having no viable TE option after losing one of the GOAT TEs is why I think it's a top 5 season.

I'm not wrong. Turnovers on short fields are, basically, free yards because they add more possessions to games. What you're doing is saying that because the offense is struggling, that doesn't count.

But that's not how this works.
