On to Baltimore!

Jackson will be seeing ghosts, demons and ghouls. The real tests IMO will be Dallas, Philly and KC.

I hope they come up with a good plan! Be nice if they could stymie jackson. Make him throw to win, that's what i reckon.

I just hope our Offense play a complete pull your weight game.

True but our offense isn’t that good. Not scoring that much without all the defense points. Would be nice to see them light these guys up.

The Pats offense has 222 points. That's more than 30 other teams. How is our offense "not that good"???

Will be a good game. This will far and away be the best offense we have face all year. Though it is fairly predictable. This is going to be a fun game to talk about.

This is the game where we get to see just how good the defense is. Our offense needs to have their best game of the year. I expect that has a good chance to happen.

Sorry Bob but I disagree. I think match up wise the Brown's were a much bigger problem. Good defense and three plus offensive weapons. The Ravens don't have the Brown's offensive weaponry outside of Jackson. I think this is another 20 point win.

How about not that consistent? But I like where they are heading. Admittedly I was wrong about Sanu and now think he'll be a nice addition. Wynn coming back and Mason healthy will help. They're experimenting with a quasi blocking FB . I expect a much more consistent offense in the weeks going forward.

Browns & Ravens D are both bad.

Adjusted ANY/A

Offense/Defense
Balt -109.5 -130.7
Cleve -173.3 -88.2

I'm not a big believer in Balt but their run game & overall offense is a good test.

Kinda went left here this isnt directed at you. Just the general talk surrounding Jackson.
Despite what some think Jackson won't melt under pressure. Never been his style & yes I know hes never faced Bill... Again Im not a huge believer in the team but hes not the type to panic.

Shame people let narratives & preconceived ideas shape their minds. He's been the best QB out of a good class that had a ton of potential. Has his team on pace for another playoff run/birth but all some talk about is what he can't do.

My comments weren't a negative about Jackson rather the ability of the Pat's defense to shut him down. I believe they can bring the extra man because the Ravens do not have the same level of weapons as the Brown's do.

But Jackson himself has been fun to watch. Good young QB although I think he runs a little too dangerously for my taste.

I was wrong about Sanu

As was I. In fairness, though, I would have had him as a much higher priority if I knew how badly the team wanted to move on from Gordon. Obviously they weren't going to roll with two rookies as the only big WRs on the team.

I agree. I admit this first point was a bit over the top as far as their offensive potential. In later post in this thread i tempered that. This is still IMO the best offense we will play in large part due to the QB who is the best we have faced all year. The Browns have higher offensive potential but the Ravens are more complete and consistent offensively IMO.

Some observations after reading several Raven MB threads-

After Chubb easily ran through the Pats D the Ravens behind LJ and Kamara will rush for 250 yards.

As long as they can contain Jules there is no one to fear on the Pats O.

They need to be watchful of Patriot gadget plays.

Why did the Ravens let Guy go.

Yeah, I would agree with that but it never seems to work for the opposing teams! Even when they have some effective runs, it goes nowhere.

Bill Belichick on Lamar Jackson: “He’s definitely a problem”

Two weeks ago, Seahawks coach Pete Carroll talked up Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson before Seattle hosted Baltimore. And that didn’t keep Baltimore from winning the game.

With six days to go until the Patriots get their first shot at trying to slow down the best quarterback from the 2018 draft class, New England coach Bill Belichick already is talking up Jackson.

“[H]e’s very fast and he’s definitely a hard guy to handle,” Belichick told reporters on Monday. “That’s definitely a problem. He’s fast and that’s really a big problem. A lot of times he just outruns people. I mean, he’s got good moves, too. . . . [A] lot of times he just outruns people with his speed.

“Catching him is an issue, especially when he keeps the ball. A lot of times he’s running against a defensive end and the ends just aren’t fast enough. They have him but they don’t have him. He’s a problem. He’s definitely a problem.”

He’s more than a problem — he’s an MVP candidate who is becoming the dual-threat quarterback that he was at Louisville, with his skills translating well to the NFL game. Buoyed by that win in Seattle, the Ravens will emerge from the bye hoping to tighten up the race for the top seed in the AFC.

Although Belichick-coached defenses typically fare very well against first- and second-year quarterbacks. Belichick-coached defenses also have struggled at times with mobile quarterbacks. Combine that with the reality that John Harbaugh-coached Ravens teams have competed well against the Patriots, and next Sunday night’s game on NBC could be a very good one.

The Ravens won in Seattle because they scored two defensive TD's.

Jackson basically sucked. We get the Ravens games here in Cleveland.

He mostly sucks.
It's no longer 2009 and Jarvis Green is not getting run over.

who cares if you get the games in Cleveland or in Alaska? Saying Jackson mostly sucks is complete nonsense.

If your QB can't consistently pass the ball but instead is a rollercoaster of accuracy which makes his team more one dimensional than some like to admit then of course this will be one of the things front and center when you talk about him.

His talent on his legs was never in question and everyone knew he would be able to do a lot of damage with it. And from what I have seen he is getting also a fair share of kudos for that so lets not pretend he is being treated vastly unfair.

What sucks is that he got drafted into a place where his offense has to carry the team. So any of his mistakes will get magnified because they need him to have great games every week due to the way the Ravens' defense plays.

That doesn't change that he still needs to get a grip on the variance in his passes.

Wish we could get a Tomlin answer on this one.

“The only ghost we are worried about are the ones inside of us. We accept that and standby it.”

That and the voices he sometimes hears on the headset at Foxboro.

Hopefully Mason is back.

The "Ghost-Train" rolls into Baltimore and takes away their best runner (Jackson).

Brady will have time to throw and shred their Defense.

The Pats should have more than enough to win this.

Go Pats!

Jackson has been improving IMO but I don’t think the pats will have a problem taking away what he wants to do. I think he will struggle. I’m suprised the spread isn’t higher. Pats seem like easy money Sunday night

Patriots will stack the box and have Collins spying on Lamar Jackson for the majority of the game. Key will be shutting down the run game, which they will do, i also think BB won't be exactly happy with some of today's defence either. The other thing is the Ravens don't have the receiving threats that the Browns do with Odell, Landry etc.

I like this matchup a lot, actually. The Patriots built a defense around speed and versatility. The Patriots will have a lot of people take turns keeping Jackson in check. Lamar Jackson won't know pre-snap who is coming for him.

Using only one player makes it elementary for the opponent to account for and block that player, or worse, throw right at him since he's not in pass coverage.

I expect to see gap discipline to keep Jackson in the pocket, forcing him to throw into the secondary. We'll see Chase Winowich, Jonathan Jones and JC Jackson coming off the edge since they are all as fast as Lamar Jackson. Justin Bethel will be an interesting guy to watch when he's on the field.

The Patriots have played these elusive pass-run QBs a lot. Lamar Jackson will get hit a lot. Taking away his interest in running the ball is something they will do from the very beginning. They'll take a couple of penalties along the way.
