Trade Deadline

I don't claim to be a cap expert nor did I stay at a Holiday Inn last week in the suburbs of Philly, but how would that even work?

Pats have like 2 and change in cap space and didn't Nate sign a "biggest OL deal evah"?

ETA - This assumes they would even want him, which given the critiques of his play this season, seems like stretch (in a vacuum)

Short answer: they did, but the Pats are only responsible for money going forward. This year, that's a bit less than $3 million for his salary.

Good trade for the Giants

We could be saying things like that about a few Jets trades in the next 24+ hours. It wouldn't shock me if crazy eyes did the NFL version of cleaning house between now and the deadline.

Yeah, Esiason was saying on the radio this morning. Clean out the vocal players who might question or have already questioned the direction of the team.

His cap hit for the next 2 years is 19.5 and 20.5 with 13m in dead money if released or traded next year.

F**k NO
Important note: Solder has had a bunch of concussions and could be one away from retirement.

That’s not how it works. Those are the Giants cap charges.

Pats cap charges would be 12.9m and 13.9m, with zero dead money if they cut or traded him.

As @Deus Irae stated, the real issue is why would the Giants do this? They would be stuck with ~20m in dead cap charges.

Ah, so the smart ones?

Our cap hit in 2020 and 2021 would be $13M and $14M. You are looking at their cap, which includes bonus.

If Solder is a healthy quality starter, he is well worth the money. We need an OL starter in 2020, and we need a starter for the rest of 2019.

Probably nothing to it, but 98.5 just played Glazer saying "NE is still in the market for a WR."

Zolak said there are no playmaker types, unless "you go get the guy who gave the QB the shoes."

Again, probably just Zo being Zo, but I can dream!

O.j. Howard is their first target.
A.J. Green is their second target. His ceiling is a 3rd (compensatory pick if he leaves). They’ll probably want at least a 2nd.

Per Cincy they aren't making any moves just like every year. AJ Green staying in the black hole forever

Why are we OK with Newhouse OK as a backup? If either Wynn or Cannon is injured, we'll have the same incompetent choice to fill in. We need a competent OT as a backup.

Are we really OK with Ferentz as our back OG and OC?

Also, Thuney is likely to leave next year, so signing a starter for next year would be fine. In the meantime, Thuney could move over to center, or the new OG/C could play center.

I understand the point.

I'm assuming Shaq and Wynn will be healthy enough to play well during the stretch run.

Newhouse goes back to being a backup when Wynn comes back. Hes fine in that role.

...because I don't think Newhouse has been as bad as some think he has.

Ferentz on the other hand....

They are in the market for a receiver. His name is N'Keal Harry.

He did hit on the Williams trade to the G Men. From the clip, it is not clear to me whether he is is saying that they are still asking around about wide receivers or if he is throwing his opinion in there.

Thank God for the Cunningham and Eluemunor acquisitions. Where would they be without those two? Totally worth the draft compensation.
