Schefter: Just based on the facts...Brady thinking/setting up to leave NE

He has 2 years left on his contract. My understanding that they do not "expire".
Hasn't Gronk not officially filed his retirement paperwork yet? If that is the case, wouldn't this be considered the same as a hold out? If that is the case, would he not be a free agent in 2020?

I love double negatives

I think it's clear that stidham has a very long way to be a starter.. needs at least another season as a backup. The pats need Brady... Who else they going to get? Particularly within price range and/or compensation.

If I'm Brady how do I leave this team with this stacked defense? The offense has lots of young talent... stable of rbs and some good wrs. They will likely address the offensive line in the off-season.

They need each other if Brady wants to play. Why leave his security blanket in Edelman and McDaniels?

need?

how do you know if Brady is even good at 43?

Defense could very well drop off significantly next year with aging players and departures in FA.

If the Pats go with a 1st round rookie in 2020 or Bridgewater, I would not be surprised.

Giselle is winning ..........

TB12's coming to Brazil ........

No. He is on the reserve /retired list.

The retirement paperwork is specific to collecting benefits such as healthcare, etc

According to Florio, there is no retirement papers anymore. You just get benefits a year from playing.

Didn't know that. Cool

Hold out? No. He is on the reserve retired list. No roster spot and no salary. People get hung up about his papers.

He's still hammering this point.... I think something is brewing but what? I have no idea.

Someone should tell Kraft and the Pats.

Here it is (sorry for ESPN link)

Personally, based on his tone and the way he’s saying things, I don’t think he has any further insight. He does seem to make clear early on that Brady doesn’t know at this point himself. And based on that, what Schefter says afterwards just seems like tea leaf reading to me versus his being in-the-know-but-not-allowed-to-say.

I could wrong. But from that, I still see nothing that tells me I should reassess my view from what Curran and Reiss said in August. I wonder if either of them are going to update their columns to reflect what they’re currently hearing given that Schefter continues to hammer this.

My guess is they may after this and especially if Schefty stays on this hard moving forward.

Stopping beating around the bush, Schefter. Most well connected person in the NFL. If he thinks Brady is likely to leave NE, he should provide a reason other than connecting dots about home sales.

Schefter doesn’t actually have Brady sources, does he? Tom seems to keep things close to the vest.

Schefty has sources EVERYWHERE with every team.

I commented on this possibility in another thread.

Answer: Yes. They need to cut bait with Mitch Trub and do some more cap maneuvering but it can be accomplished (assuming TB is $30m cap # in 2020)

Larger question is fit. Different offense they run over there.

At the end of the day I can't see Tom going to CHI.

I do see TN as the best landing spot. System. Cap space. Relationships.

This is Schefter pulling out his inner Schiff...don't believe the hype

I said before, it is his inner Jet fan.

I don't give a **** what he thinks.....play, don't play......still gonna watch
I’d assume a real patriot fan would care if Brady stays since, you know, winning matters.
