Demaryius Thomas says he was insulted/disrespected by Patriots.

Wrong

I said good for Berrios getting to live out his dream and play in the NFL. The Thomas situation is totally divergent from Berrios.

Really, the farce here is that this board went on and on how great Berrios looked in camp. A Star in the making and then the next thing you hear is that Berrios is cleaning out his locker heading to Logan airport. Its the same bunch of rose colored sunshine songs that I read about Harry, Meyers, Dorsett and Gordon.

Never pans out.

Exactly WHERE did the Patriots hurt you? Point to the place on the puppet, Defeat.

.

I just love the fact if you don't love every single player the team signs then you're negative.

Not a real fan.

Go to another team.

Feels like half the posters in this thread expressing personal offense because Demaryius Thomas dared mention a totally understandable negative feeling towards the Patriots were posting things like "wish we hadn't traded Thomas" when the Brown stuff was going down. It's always kind of surprising (but also a little sad) how many posters here treat remarks about a big impersonal billion dollar brand as if they were remarks about said poster or someone meaningful to them.

And then many of us can understand BOTH sides. DT has every right to feel sore about it. And the Patriots have every right to feel that they did what they had to do, along with having employed and helped him with his leg rehab for 7 months.

.Honestly, no one s the devil in this situation no matter how much Manish (Wrong for over a decade) Mehta tries.........

.

Oh yea? Wait till Monday when we assign Jordan richards to cover you. How would THAT feel

The term "The Unbearable Lightness of Being" comes to mind?

.

Oh, grow a pair, Mary.

I don’t see how it was a waste of time. They were the only team who made him an offer in free agency and they paid him decently while he rehabbed. They were the only team that respected him enough to sign him then. Now they’re disrespectful?

I believe he is referring to being re-signed and then traded a week later.

He could have just gone to another team a week earlier.

6-0. First place AFC. Defending SB champs. SB after seasons : 2014-16-17-18. Winner of 3/4.

NE wasted your time, DT ? So what ? Rules were followed, you were cut. GL.

So much for BB treats vets respectfully so they want to come play here.

Several of us thought DT got screwed. Now turns out Ben was released at $2.5M and re-signed a week latter at $1.5M which is another not so cool move (yes I get that its good for the team). Finally, Bennett was brought in knowing fully well what he brought and then demoted when something changed (again good for the team).

Veterans will probably think twice before agreeing to come to NEP in the future.

this whole notion that BB knows how to handle vets better is BS. BB is ruthless.

The question I still want is answered is: Had Brown not been signed, would Thomas have been traded?

Did they see DT as a potential contributor but there was simply no room on the roster? Or did they see DT as unable to produce and were attempting to get whatever they could for him?

We'll probably never know - or at least not know anytime soon. Maybe BB will reveal the thought process behind that decision at some time down the road when he retires.

You're unhinged. No one said Berrios was a star in the making. Many were simply pulling for him to be a solid #5 or PR.

But nice imagination, Defeat.

.

Yes Shemp Berrios received high praise during camp.

Players that end up being cut are either toast or not good enough to compete with younger players on the roster relative to their salaries. The former usually retire (see Wayne or Decker) the latter either get cut or traded (DT or maybe soon Bennett).
I know you're an expert in these things but just don't see how you can say:

Gunner a/o Meyers >> DT

That's just nonsense.

You do realize that Watson missed 37.5% of the season, right? That means he has 62.5% of the season left to play. $2.5 x .625 = $1.5625.

Confused?? They are still paying him a prorated $2.5 Million dollars. He's not playing for the full season, only 10 games. They are paying him for the remaining 10 games. If they paid him $2.5 Million, they'd be paying him for the 6 games he missed.

No.

I think BB has done a good job of being transparent, direct, and forward with all players, veterans especially, in the past.

That said, he ultimately does what's best for the team and sometimes that's at-odds with the interests of individual players.

I agree that this season in particular (DT, Watson, Bennett) didn't do much to make us look particularly desirable in the eyes of veterans. That said, I still think plenty of players will want to play here in the foreseeable future.

...but thats on DT. He can sign with whomever he wants. No one held a gun to his head. Plus hes been in this league 10 years. If he doesn't want to acknowledge how cutthroat it can be thats on him.

Obviously i'm defending the team here. They signed him when he was injured and still dealing with a legal matter. They paid him while rehabbing. He made his way back. They cut him thus making him a FA. He could have signed with anyone but chose to come back here. He was then traded to a team in which knew him and he knew the offensive system.

Welcome to the real world where people are laid off, fired, demoted and passed over for promotions and not paid millions of $.

Baby.

According to DT, BB told him there was no room on the roster after hiring AB. So they threw him out after getting AB. Probably would have kept him otherwise. Same thing BB told Ben, no room on roster for your old azz, lol.

He’s not wrong.

Shouldn’t have been traded in the first place. Hated it then and hate it even more now.

Totally foolish to bet big on Brown and that the receiving corse would stay fully healthy.

From the article:
“Coach (Belichick) came up to me and was like, ‘Uh, we got too many guys. We can’t get the ball around enough and we’re going to trade you to the Jets,’” Thomas said. “And that was that…. Ain’t no reason to yell. They’ve won championships without me. I was only trying to be a part of something that was going to be good when I was there… They’re doing a hell of a job.”
Unless BB was lying to Thomas, or unless Thomas was lying in his interview, this is pretty cut and dry to me. The decision to trade him at that point was specifically tied to Brown.
