Patriots Breakout Player of 2019 - CB J.C. Jackson

depends how you define breaking out. His breakout as a legit NFL player happened last year. His breakout as a #1 corner or star has not happened yet.

draft status also plays a role. If we would have drafted Jackson in the top 5-10 he would not be considered a breakout player in the same way.

If we expected him to become a stud his breakout has not happened yet.
I agree with this.

While I'd be great if he became a CB1 he doesn't have to here to be successful. I'm all for high expectations but for JC 2019 is all about establishing himself as a CB2 who never leaves the field.

Good player but gambles way too much.

Let me point out for the 800th time that the Patriots got completely hosed by the officials in KC, and the aggregate damage from those calls was well worse than the Saints one blatant missed call. The multiple PI/holding penalties on Jackson were total BS compared to the mugging by the KC secondary all game. Rarely seen such a one-sided blatant screw job, but the Pats won anyway since that’s what they do.
Glad you brought that up. The effect that so many penalties had on the KC comeback in that 2nd half is a vastly under reported aspect that gets wound up in the growing myth of invincibility that surrounds Patrick Mahomes.

Not saying that Mahomes isn't the new fact of QBing in the NFL. He's the real deal and then some. But in that PARTICULAR game, KC got back into that game as much by some of those very close PI/holds, as it was by Mahomes arm

Not to mention the missed pick that should have been OPI (and cost Belichick a tablet).

Cornerbacks have to gamble. He reads the play right more than enough time to give him license tn roll the proverbial dice as he sees fit
