Massive overreaction. Michel helped us win a SB. That was already worth it.

It's difficult to gauge Michel's unique contribution to the Super Bowl win. Sure he played well in the playoffs but there's no reason to believe replacing him with, say, Kerryon Johnson would have resulted in a different outcome.

I'm pretty firmly against a 1st round running back. I think Michel's perfectly fine but, considering the opportunity cost, the choice was a miss.

who was a top 45 pick?

I would have rather drafted a RB in rounds 2-3 as well but the other question how likely is that pick 31 is going to be better and more valuable than that?

I picked Johnson specifically because he was selected with a pick the Patriots owned going into the draft, so an alternative history is Wynn, Jackson, Johnson rather than Wynn, Michel, trading down for Dawson.

In any case, the point is less about 31 specifically versus the fact a quarterback who's ascending into stardom was chosen immediately after. But it's water under the bridge, I'm just disappointed because I thought Michel was going to take the next step this year and instead he's looked below replacement level and Bolden is playing over him at times.

Lamar will be a stud but I think a lot of this will depend when Brady retires how we evaluate not picking him. And at this point the better discussion would be Jackson instead of 1 game Wynn at #23.

I'm far from sold on Jackson, time will tell

Just 1 time.

Id like to see the Pats draft a stud RB and a stud WR before Brady hangs up the cleats.

Maybe the reason why the Pats drafted Damien Harris is because there are concerns about Sony.

I am sorry, it was the right thing to do to cut him. I defended signing him, and when the civil suit came out I defended keeping him on the team. I always prefaced it by saying, you can't cut or punish someone based upon a he said she said civil suit. Whether or not he told the Patriots before hand. I also argued you can't just cut him or you will have to pay him, especially if it is just for a civil suit.

However, I am also sure the Patriots told him to keep his mouth shut, and be a model citizen and everything will be fine. He just couldn't do it for whatever reason. Then he posted the pictures of the kids, and even though the texts weren't as bad as some people originally said they were, he did it while he was a Patriot. I don't care if it was Kraft or Bill or Tom or whomever, you reach some point and you have to realize that this isn't going away and all it will do is hurt the Patriot's brand more and more. Additionally, I think it is 50/50 they get the money back. I think most of the reporters that write these articles are idiots, and have as much legal understanding as a 5 year old does.

I imagine Bill and Bob had a nice chat when the lawsuit broke and Bob said, really Bill, and Bill replied, Bob, I will control him or he is gone, and Bob said, ok Bill it is on you. When the texts broke, Bob called Bill, and Bill said yes Mr. Kraft, I understand.

And you know what, I don't have a problem with that.
Question.
Do you think Antonio brown is smart enough to realize his texts would go public?
I don’t. And I think the patriots don’t either.
I don’t think he was cut because of the texts. I think he was cut because of his reaction when they talked to him about the texts. I think he didn’t agree that he should stay off social media while all of this was going down, and basically responded that he will do what he wants and they can’t tell him what to do.
I 100% believe after the texts he was given an opportunity to stay if he accepted restrictions and he wouldn’t.
If fits the timeline, it fits the people involved and it answers all the unknown questions about how it went down.

That SB ring Lamar Jackson is wearing is beautiful!

The AB and Leveon Bell Ringless Wonder Steelers sigh and sob at that post......

Seriously, when did so many Fantasy League members invade real football forums????

Many of us prefer the duckboat parades........

Probably circulating photos of children in general is a no no. I'm not saying Antonio Brown is a pedo. But I'm also not going to say he isn't one either. The jury is still out.

The jury on him being a pedophile is as much out as it is on you being a rapist.

Fun times throwing baseless accusations around, isn't it ?

Feck Yahoo sports, and feck Bill for signing Clowntonio to that extremely careless contract in the first place.

Yahoo? Why not Wikipedia?

I thought Mayfield could be a good QB but he’s letting praise from last year get to his head. He is a poor man’s Matt Stafford.

I understand the comparison, but they are different.

Baker doesn't seem like a player who would step out of bounds on a third down run that could have been made just to avoid c0ntact, like Stafford did against the Patriots.

And Stafford is a grown up adult, something Mayfield isn't showing he is.

While we are at it feck creating more AB threads.
That said, it wouldn't be surprising if the decision on whether Brown sees any of that bonus comes down to his non disclosure of a known adverse condition prior to signing that contract

No he couldn’t. The Exempt List is a league function, not a team function, and there is no way the NFLPA was going to go along with exempting players for accusations in a civil suit. That said you keep pretending that Brown is clean when in fact the texts show he is anything but clean. He’s a bully and the texts were a textbook case of witness intimidation, Kraft was 100% right in cutting him when he did.

Let me take that back. Brown may have been put on the Exempt List by the league, since Goodell has just met with Taylor. That, or an investigation would have been ongoing and the Patriots had options for what to do with him during that time. Goodell does in fact have the authority to use the IL even if criminal charges are not brought forth...this was discussed at length in another thread. He hasn’t before, may choose not to, but doesn’t indeed have that authority.

Either way, he was released just as the league’s investigated began because of the text messages, which a vocal crowd here (not saying vocal is right) thinks is a very underwhelming reason for a knee jerk release within hours. Put another way, let’s suppose hypothetically the woman did make up things about Brown and damaged his reputation and lied to him about being desperate for money, and he responded with those texts, referencing her public Instagram photo of her kids not looking so poor and penniless. That is grounds to void a contract? Because he disobeyed “orders” from the league who are not his lawyers and should stay the F out of a non-violent civil suit in the first place?

Anyway, that’s fine that other have different opinions on this. Up until 2015, it really bothered me when the Patriots signed low character guys, even Talib. That changed when it became apparent the league is a slimy, hypocritical pile of **** with zero actual ethics or principles anyway. You don’t have to loom further than Tyreek Hill to see the Patriots have put themselves at a competitive disadvantage and weren’t forced to, and once again, Brown was apparently expected to just change his impulsive behavior in two weeks instead of realistically getting through to him over time. Brady knee he could mentor him.

While I don’t think you can put their lack of rings on any one player neither Bell or Brown were able to put really talented Stealer team’s over the top. I think Brown is a supremely talented player, but there is nothing to suggest he is a team first player, and I honestly believe he would have become a big problem at crunch time if it became clear he wasn’t going to meet his contract incentives. I also think he would have become an issue for Josh Gordon if his insistence on being the primary target led to Gordon seeing a very limited number of targets. I would rather see Brown gone and Gordon a primary target in their offense. I don’t believe Gordon is a mefirst guy, but getting shut out consistently could lead to a discouraging experience for him.

If Gordon falls off the horse, this offense is in big trouble. Can think of Antonio Brown as last year’s Kevin Durant. They were just fine without him (some thought better and smoother on offense), but never take depth for granted, and he did make a big difference against the best competition. But I do love Gordon...hope he stays on track. Easy to root for the guy.

The only thing Yahoo does right is there fantasy football app. Moved my league there. Way easier to use than ESPN.
