James Develin on IR

Michael Crabtree was released. Just an FYI.
Tom said something about needing experienced players in the offense.
I'm not endorsing a Crabtree sign, just saying that they might be looking in a similar direction

On Felger and Mazz just now, they said they'd prefer Wynn & Develin over Harry. Reason being is Harry is a rookie who will take awhile to get on the same page as Brady. Also, they left the door open for Andrews to return? I thought he was done until 2020.

Why are you listening to Felger and Mazz. A rock you find on the street has more intelligence than those two..

And yes. Andrews is done until 2020.

So the D is the best in the league. .
And the offense is crumbling. Damn.

How come KC seems to stay healthy?

Guys, Im usually not the optimistic guy, but reading this thread is dreadful, but I don't really feel too worried.. yet

Seriously, we have a extremely easy schedule until the bye. Buffalo is the only good team they're facing and I think they are a Playoff hopeful still (tbh, i havent been able to watch as many games). Redskins, Giants and Jets are BAD TEAMS.

So, we don't need to be at full power now. This is actually a great time to get bruised and heal lingering issues cause the end of the year will be the real thing. And really, based on reports and news I got, Harry and Wynn (EDIT - now even Develin) are going to be able to come back, so let the depth develop because we might need them when it counts

Plus, and last point: The Defense is the carry of the team. And, since i havent heard anything about HT and therefore i can only assume it wasn't all that serious, we are still at 100%

Injuries happen in Football. Every team is gonna have its dosage of misfortune. It only gonna matter in the post-season

Patriots FB James Develin's neck injury isn't thought to be season-ending, per sources. The Patriots will have to decide between Develin, Isaiah Wynn and N'Keal Harry. Only two can come off of injured reserve.
Glad to see that his injury isn't possibly career-ending as I had feared. Neck/disk injuries are a very tricky matter.

Is Jacob Johnson a FB? Bill had been raving about him

We might be forced to carry Three TE's now and run some heavy sets. We would have Playaction at our disposal with Watson in the fold. This would take some of the pressure off our WR's and keep our dept there fresh.

Hellooooo Dwayne Allen.

.

This odd year fallacy thing is ridiculous. People seem to forget about 2004 when the Patriots lost Ty Law and Ty Poole. Not to mention Adrian Klemm and Tom Ashworth.

Look at 2016: Gronkowski, Jackson, Vollmer, Lewis, Brissette, Roberts
Look at 2018: Wynn, Bentley, Sam, Michel, Izzo, C. Hollister, J. Hollister, Hill, McCarron, Burkhead, Berrios, Rowe, Sam, Schwenke, John.
We also play 2-3 extra games a year compared to the average NFL team. Attrition is going to happen, especially after seasons when we reach the Super Bowl.

There is no odd year injury curse. Injuries happen to all teams and they should, on paper, happen to us more frequently since we play more games. Here's hoping we can continue to find and coach up diamonds in the rough, since that's what it takes in a league where injuries are around every corner. I better go get some food, that last line is starting to sound like a film noir.

My wife doesn't know much about football, but she saw the game two weeks ago and noticed Develin plowing his neck/head forward into bodies near the goal line, and she said "isn't he going to get hurt doing that?"

So I guess she was right.

Harry and Wynn.

I'd go with Wynn and Develin IF our WR core is still healthy when the time comes to make that decision.

We have plenty of firepower on offense with everyone healthy, getting Wynn back into the line and Develin to help our power running game as we move into winter/playoffs... Harry could just have a redshirt year in that scenario

If we lose any of the 3 in Dorsett/Edelman/Gordon, then Harry over Develin probably makes the most sense but its a tough call.. Our running game is really what helped us against the Chiefs in that AFCCG last year and could be vital in the playoffs

and then of course a lot of that would depend on how the IR players are recovering from their injuries and what the odds are that they'll re-injure it

Big time loss. He was a huge reason the offense was good enough to win the Super Bowl last season and they were able to morph into a smash mouth football team. I'd be surprised if we see the amount of dives that we're used to seeing (assuming we don't pick up another one). I think we'll see an increase in tosses, sweeps, and counters. Get those linemen moving downhill and stress the defense East to West. Success there will open up the middle of the field nicely.

They need to change the rules again. If guys get healthy then they should all be able to come back and it’s up to the team to manager the roster to do so.

I liked when there were just 2 on IR, so it didn’t seem serious. Now, either Develin or one of our 1st round picks the last two years is out for the season. Damn.

Michael Crabtree has sucked balls for three years. Then again, this is you, and defense doesn't matter.

This thread is about a fullback, you know. Fullback.
