The best arm in the NFL, amazing eye/body manipulation, very good at reading defenses. A common argument for non-Brady fans is that while Brady may be the GOAT, Rodgers is the best QB ever. I never bought into that argument because it's BS. With Mahomes, however, I can see that argument becoming true. He can do things literally no one else can do in the NFL. I don't know if he will ever reach Brady's legacy, but is Mahomes already the best QB to play in the NFL?

Mike Vick was better. Check mate.

(This is a joke. Arm strength and athleticism are just two aspects of the position.). @BaconGrundleCandy

Tells us what sort of things he can literally do that no one else can with that amazing body manipulation. Lmao

I don't know however he is the best QB in the NFL right now. If he is out, KC is a sub 500 team.

Certainly the most talented. This will do more to hurt Rodgers' legacy than Brady's.

Part of being the greatest, in my book anyway, is accomplishments. Mahomes has a long way to go. He had a tremendous year last year and a great start to this one. Let's see how it plays out over time. By the end of it, he could be counted among at least the Top 10 to ever play.

As a cantankerous old bastard once said, "let's not put him in Canton yet".

He has a phenomenal arm and runs the Walrus’s offense well. His inexperience and lack of ability to really understand a defense, and his reliance on first reads within the scheme, was on full display in the AFCCG. Not only was he embarrassed in the first half, but all of his big plays in the second half were well designed screens and misdirection plays. I don’t put a ton of stock in ESPN’s QBR, but they got that one right by giving him a very subpar grade.

He has the physical potential to be something very special...then again, Marino, Young, and Rodgers were also the “perfect prototype” as well. Maybe Favre too. It is possible for anyone to plateau or even regress, and it isn’t a given at all that experience builds a better understanding of the game. Right now Mahomes is very dominant but it isn’t because of his ability to read defenses. He plays checkers and it works due to his pure talent and supporting cast.

That said, I’d take him over any young QB in the league and he is really fun to watch.

@Ice_Ice_Brady, I don't think he's Vick-like at all. Vick was physically phenomenal. Then he made off-field mistakes, the game took a toll, as it always does with running QBs... and he still had that cannon arm. But he never became an elite pocket passer.

Mahomes does what a QB is supposed to do, pass the ball real good. I can't make reads and predictions of what he'll become.

He's almost all potential right now. Whatever he'll become, I hope he does it after TB12 hangs 'em up :D

But I don't think he does to the league - or to us - what Tom Brady has done to the rest of the league.

And before he's the best anything, I need to see Mahome's ring(s). There are several active QBs that have them. Right now he's overhyped until/unless he brings home some hardware, a latter-day Marino

The great Aaron Rodgers is untouchable so the comparisons are ridiculous.

Super Bowl rings:

Aaron Rodgers has one and it was the hardest ring a QB has ever earned so it pretty much counts as two or three.

Mahomes has none. In fact he choked away an AFCCG by allowing Tom Brady back on the field leaving way too much time on the clock.

Spectacular Throws:

Mahomes once threw a silly gimmicky pass with his left hand to a receiver that was 4 -1/2 yards away from him.

Aaron Rodgers once threw a pass that no other QB in NFL history could throw to a wide open receiver twenty yards down field. It was just remarkable.

Injuries:

Mahomes never was able to comeback from an injury during the same game.

Aaron Rodgers once was injured during the first half of a game and came back after halftime in a Jesus like fashion. He saved the season, team and the fans. May Aaron bless you.

Upbringing:

Mahomes still talks to his parents. They hug him, coddle him and actually show up to his games like he was still playing Peewee football. While cute Patrick needs to grow up and be a man. Maybe he could start by using Pat instead of Patrick. He's so cute.

Aaron Rodgers doesn't speak to his parents. He's his own man. Practically raised by wolves. His name is perfect and folklore has it that he chose the name himself. His father wanted to name him Buck which is a great last name but as a first is just asinine.

So let's please stop with the comparisons of Patrick (some call him Patty) Mahomes and The Great Aaron Rodgers.

Sincerely

Joe Buck

When he was born Aaron Rodgers spanked the doctor

When I saw the thread title I thought this was a joke. Wow.

Would've given you a Winner if signed Chris Simms, lol.

Patty has his Mom check under the bed for AR before she tucks him in. She also is required to check the closet for Tom F Brady

it was in jest, just taking the “physically perfect” characterization to its extreme.

I kinda sorta thought that, but now that I am really awake I am glad to see it confirmed. Sometimes I just post stuff b/c I have no real life friends.

Sometimes 'real life friends' really aren't

I'm not prepared to annoint Mahome boy the greatest QB ever. That would obviously be foolish. But...the bolded is just ludicrous. Come on...

On another note, the hate Mahome boy gets on these boards is bizarre. It's not his fault our chief rival for the conference drafted him. It's not his fault that his teammate is scum. He's never really given me the impression that he's an arrogant prick (See Rodgers or Mayfield). He keeps his mouth shut and just plays.

I enjoy watching him play. He's the most exciting player in football.

Dan Marino says hi.

Your socks say hi...?

I don't want to hear about your damn marinos.
I'm no Marino fan. Although, Marinos stats for his second season are unbelievable as he threw for 48 TD's and went to the SuperBowl. Never again would he go to the superBowl. Maybe he and Mahomes will have something in common.

Then their fans can fight Jim Kelly fans for "greatest QB w/o a ring" honors
