The legal investigation didn’t bring charges, and yet he was still suspended. You claimed that suspending Brown without charges would be unprecedented. That’s not true.

Also, I think it goes without saying that the state of FL is looking into a rape case that is now receiving national attention, so there’s that angle too.

While you're right that Fl can open an investigation without the alleged victim, it would be a waste of Florida's time. This is well past the alleged incident date, there was no police report, there was no contact with the prosecutor's office, there is no rape kit and, unless there's been a lot that's been needlessly hidden, it would be just a he said/she said/he was there situation, which means that there would be no evidence found.

That doesn't mean that Florida won't investigate, of course. High profile situations lead to things being done differently, after all.

Of course. All fair points, although then we’re back to the possibility of Goodell suspending him or placing him on the CE list even though criminal charges were never filed.

I do think that it will help tremendously if FL doesn’t file charges, but it’s not a good look for new stories to be coming out and two separate companies to have severed ties with his endorsement deals, especially the Nike one.
