Unless the accuser has evidence and Brown and his legal team lack the evidence to buttress the strong claims they have already made, this isn’t going anywhere.

Worse case, AB gives her a small pile of cash to go away.

It does smack of crass opportunistic money grabbing and character assassination. Not that AB has a good reputation. But the death of a name is like a death in my moral/religious system.

She may be obsessed that she couldn’t make the relationship permanent of the elite athlete.

These professional athletes have women throwing themselves at them. Some fraction even hope to get pregnant and then cash in on the guy.

I first realized this when the late great Derrick Thomas of KC, who tragically died at 33 after an auto accident, had seven children by five women spread across four states.

His alimony and child support was over $10,000 every month. This is in 2000 dollars.

In the past, the NFL has been criticized for going easy on players accused of sexual misconduct. With that in mind, several sources have suggested AB be placed on the exempt list right now until this whole mess gets sorted out. As much as I would like to see him in a Pats uni, I think that is probably what happens.

and then the union is all over it, and he has grounds, IMHO, to come after the league.....there's not even criminal charges filed, just a civil suit.......this would be a huge over reach by the NFL imho

Hell of a twist here. Now he have a fiance/husband in the equation

My wife and I have been discussing high-profile rape cases for a while now. Weinstein, Cosby, and the allegations against new Supreme Court Judge Kavanaugh got the discussions going.

She thinks it’s very unlikely that women are lying about being raped in general, though there can be cases where they are lying. She just thinks men don’t understand how badly being raped destroys a woman, and how humiliating it is to go public (your sex life is open for the world to see, your parents know about this, etc.)

I agree with her that generally women are almost always telling the truth, but I am always skeptical when it involves celebrities...like, what kind of motives/expectations does this person have at the beginning in chasing down some famous guy with lots of money. It’s a good discussion with different perspectives.

One thing I try to get across to her is the old saying that it’s better to let 10 guilty people go free than to lock up 1 innocent person. Women may be afraid to initially report the rape to authorities, but in accusing someone years after it allegedly happened, it takes away a man’s ability to defend himself and just becomes a “who do you believe” scenario. So when there are false accusations, that is the worst thing that can happen for actual rape victims everywhere.

Now she's getting married in the middle of this?

lmao

I read about this last night, that she has a fiancé, which has made me think this is much more nuanced. A combination of guilt (for unfaithfulness) and some gray area between consent and non-consent could in fact make her a believe she is a rape victim. I don’t really know if that does make you a rape victim or not.

I'll be honest.........I'm one of those people that takes the opposite approach of what one should take..........My mind assumes GUILTY until proven Innocent (I'm not saying I'm right, that's just how I work).

In this case though, I'm not buying it. Sure, my initial reaction was 'uh oh' but then I immediately found some details that make this very suspicious.

1.) The Timing..........why now? If this really happened someone wouldn't care what team he was on or how much of a new story it would be, but this happens the week he joins the Pats?!?!? hmmm, smells fishy

2.) Continued Association - this person was supposedly traumatized by this man and yet continued to associate with him for years? Not buying it.

It's not just because he is a Patriot either, I still fully believe Kobe Bryant as well.

The thing is, the frequency of false allegations really doesn't matter. It happens, and it happens frequently enough to give one pause.

On a different note, the leaks from the NFL office--sending up the trial balloons of putting Brown on the exempt list--are really appalling.

I think it's likely the NFL will place him on the exempt list.

If he was not on the Patriots I think it's likely the NFL would not do anything.

One presumes that Brown or his agent knew this issue was coming, and perhaps withheld it from the team. If not, I don't see how the first part of the bonus will be given back. By the time the second half is due, either this will be all behind us or AB will have done something detrimental voting the guarantee and the 2020 payment.

I'm not a lawyer but the wordings suggest something more along the lines of any actions he may take while a member of the Patriots.

It has nothing to do with anything from his past.

The "address" for this chick's "gym" is in the middle of nowhere.

The onion is getting pealed back and every layer reveals this woman is a liar

Wait, so are you implying that she (and the other women in the Weinstein cases) are whores? Because if they were willing to participate in sexual activities, no matter their distaste, for economic reasons, then by definition they are!

No. I didn't say anything like that. I said they continued to socialize with him, and go to his house parties. There was a lot of accusations coming from friends of his (women as well) calling out accusers who continued to stay in his circle after he assaulted them.

Looking for a nice wedding gift?

I see she has a nice list of priorities.
She's an emotional wreck.
