It can be viewed either way I guess.

Yup.

Boy did this game fool me. In most years the Pats start a little bit slow. Not this time. They looked great and no matter which way Triplin went on that 4th and goal from the 1 it wasn't going to matter.

De-FENSE! De-FENSE! De-FENSE!

The Pats looked freakin amazing last night.

The thought of adding AB to this team should make everyone sick.

That includes Pats fans though. I mean if AB played last night, would they have beat Pitt any worse? Doubt it, but there is the real chance AB messes up that chemistry.

Pats should trade AB for some draft picks.

I actually don't really have a problem w/ Tomlin kicking a FG. It made it 20-3. They got a stop. If they had converted the 4th-1 and got a TD it would have been 20-10 in the middle of the 3rd.

No need to panic at that moment.

Opinions will naturally differ. I understand the "get on the board" mentality, and if they had been down just 17 I would have been all for it. By all means, reduce the margin from 3 scores to 2. But leaving yourself still down 3 scores on the road in the second half, when this was the first time you'd come in shouting distance of the end zone all night...I think it was a mistake and, dare I use the word, deflating to the team.

That, along with 4 WR sets, is what a lot of us are expecting to see a lot more this year.

Another reason that Rex was not going anywhere, despite the offseason predictions of some that he would be cut.

They've got to get Sony catching passes. Squealers keyed on him all night. Too predictable

They didn't last year and it worked all season when they chose to ride w Sony.

The bigger Q here is the quality/coherence of this new OL in the running game. While Karras arguably might be stronger in PP there is significant drop off from Andrews in many other aspects. Reiss was criticising his snap quality, there could be an issue with tells like with Stork (LBs read OLs not RBs), issues with gluing, double teaming, command - all areas Andrews excelled. This OL played very few snaps together even in TC so hopefully they grow together more with time also in running game..

Surprised it's not much of a story, but Jerod Mayo was essentially the DC last night.

Have to say, mayo/flores > Patricia. Personnel isnt that much different than 2 years ago when they got shredded
In all fairness, Antonio Brown changes how a coach defends.

Sometimes, week 1 is a liar. Too early to tell what the 2019 Steelers will be.

Yeah still way too early. The afc looks pretty wide open beyond ne-kc-lac-balt right now so I believe they will be a borderline playoff team again. Their ol did look good in pass protection so ol probably will have another strong year and they stopped our run better than anyone else since the last time we played them. Strong team up front.
Alot will depend on ben and if he truly dogged it this offseason- whether there will be a decline as it appeared yesterday.

Patricia's defense in prime form last night - blowing an 18 point lead in the 4th.

No im saying michel was ineffective compared to burkhead.

Burkhead faced a different defense than Michel. Michel was facing a stacked box. You can tell because when Michel was in there, the playaction was killing the steelers.

Another reason that Rex was not going anywhere, despite the offseason predictions of some that he would be cut.

Rex's problem has been availability, and how the team handles the oft-injured is always something to watch. But, to this point, neither Michel nor Harris has shown any signs that they can make Rex's presence a redundancy, so it's not surprising that Burkhead is still around.

Let's talk Mike Tomlin for a moment. Aside from the rather shocking FG from the 1 yard line, down 20 points, there was the halftime comment as relayed by the sideline reporter. Asked about adjustments for the second half, Tomlin rejected the whole idea, saying "it's not the scheme, it's the quality of execution."

My jaw dropped. Down 20 at the half, and no adjustments planned? No accountability? Just declaring yourself perfect and blaming your players? o_Oo_Oo_O

We just needed some positivity...alright...Pos-i-tiv-i-ty!

Might also have to do w/KVN being inactive.
Oh he certainly played more because he was out. My belief is he is thought of well enough to have played such a large amt of snaps as opposed to none.

Tom would not have children born during football season

Tom's last two kids are December babies.

I think it was a combo if things btu the fact that White and Rex ran well and Sony didn't tells me it was the D and Sony indecisive because the hole he wanted closed quickly.

Burkhead is an extremely versatile player, good at many roles. Sounds like someone the Pats would part ways with
