AB threatens to retire (Helmet-Gate)

Hilarious! He may not get a dime from the Raiders. Not a single dime. Holy cow.

“PFT has obtained an analyzed a full copy of the contract. The $1 million signing bonus contained in the deal actually took the form of a pair of guaranteed $500,000 workout bonuses for 2019 and 2020. The 2019 payment nevertheless hinged upon Brown participating in at least 85 percent of the 2019 offseaon program.

Per a league source, NFLPA records reveal that he did not earn the $500,000, which means that he failed to participate in at least 85 percent of the offseason program. Thus, to date, Brown has gotten no payment from the Raiders under the contract.

And he may ultimately get none. Brown’s remaining guarantees of $29.625 million (2019 salary, 2020 workout bonus, 2020 salary) can be wiped out if he’s suspended. Actually, the language of the contract allows the guarantees to be voided even without a suspension; the behavior for which he was fined $53,950 already puts him in default.”

Antonio Brown may end up getting no payment at all from the Raiders

Maybe there's something to that crazy internet theory that this was an elaborate scheme for AB to get to the Pats.
-He was expressing interest in the Pats with tweets last year;
-He knew that there was no way in heck that the Steelers would trade him to Pats;

Is this all by design?

I don't think this is an unrealistic scenario. He sure is acting like someone who doesn't want to play for the Raiders.

Raiders should cut him and try to pay zero $. But they franchise has been crap for so many years. They don’t know what they’re doing.

One of the craziest things about this is that he felt disrespected in Pittsburgh and wanted to get paid. The Raiders invest picks to acquire him, then negotiate the contract he wanted and before training camp even started he was already in conflict with the team's vision doing his own thing

His entire attitude and behaviors are so very much the opposite of what the Patriots have tried to build and maintain over the last 20 years.

Ink barely dry on the contract he just signed and has been combative (figuratively AND literally) with management over pretty black and white stuff for any intelligent professional that just signed a monster contract. Doesn't want to practice unless its on his schedule and thinks rules don't apply to him, gets in public spats with Roethlisberger, delivers his opinion via the media, and on and on it goes....

He made sure to show up on Day 1 of training camp in a hot air balloon tho, with a camera on him the entire time. Sure, lots of players like to be eccentric and make a grand entrance at training camp, but those are usually top performing players who are leaders on their teams and in their locker rooms. AB always appears to come across as if he's bigger and more important than the team. The same guy that was instagraming live from inside his own locker room while the team was in the background, huddled around the coach listening to his post-game message and leadership.

When he's called out for breaking the rules and disciplined via a fine that ultimately amounts to pennies for him, he instagrams about it for more attention, throws a tantrum, verbally threatens his GM, rage punts a football and storms off.

This guy would need 12 months in an inpatient program to address his obvious mental health problems before I would even consider bringing him anywhere near my locker room.

Internet stories are in abundance. It is far fetched that AB decides that he would think it would be a great idea to give up 30 million guaranteed money to come to the Patriots for 2-3 million/year.
We have minimal money left that will be needed for in season transactions.
AB is the type of player that will not play for anything less than what he thinks he is worth. That is not happening here at this time of year

I'm starting to feel like this is finding entertainment in the struggles of someone in a wheelchair trying to walk up a flight of stairs. Something's not right for this guy and there's no evidence of a support system.

Send him to McCleans Hospital for a year, dude might be manic or some sort of personality disorder. Get him on meds and some therapy. at THAT point I have no doubt that Belichick would meet with him, and if his head was on straight, would give him a tryout.

Bill has taken on Corey Dillon. Bill has taken on Albert Haynesworth. Bill has taken on Josh Gordon. Bill has taken on Chad Johnson. There is no reason to think that AB would somehow be an automatic "NO".
Corey Dillon: you cannot seriously be comparing Dillon to AB. The only thing I remember about Dillon is he had an off field DV incident. He’s not anywhere near the headcase AB is. He had that off field incident but was a fantastic runner.

Albert Haynesworth: how’d that work out?

Josh Gordon: jury still out but again, he has never been a problem when he was actually playing. His problem is that his addictions make his reliability quite dubious

Chad Johnson: not anywhere near the headcase AB is. A diva for sure, but never one who sabotaged his own team like AB is doing

Moss wasn't the greatest WR ever but I wouldn't argue with anyone who called him #2.

You're a Captain Stickum guy I take it?

This makes me think this whole thing is more about the $500k then the ~$50k in fines.

Possibly. Or he saw the reality of the Raiders and said f it, who knows you may be right.

Oh my aching head. Can he play center?

With the announcement of the fact that the Raiders can can his sorry ass without paying him a dime, you can start the countdown before Drew Rosenhaus is taking his client, by the hand, up to Mike Mayock's office and then to the lockerroom with AB in SEVERE mea culpa mode, and try to save his massive commission.

I don't know if it will work. Mike's a tough kid from the suburbs of Philadelphia, who made his bones at MaryAnn's in rough section of Cleveland Circle when he was at BC. Hanging at Pino's Pizza and trolling Beacon St and Comm Ave. ;)

Yes I, like 99.99% of football fans, consider Jerry Rice the greatest WR of all time.

Popular and correct aren't the same thing.

Congrats on coming up with some obscure analytics metric that makes Moss look good but really only tells us that he played with crappy WRs.

I’ll take the 8,000 extra career yards and 40 TD’s, tyvm. And so will everyone else.

Where the hell is AB's agent in all of this protracted mess?
Talk about an enabler!!!
