1. I think people are missing the fact that Hoyer has a say in where he plays.
2. Why would Hoyer want to play somewhere for a 1 year $1.5M deal when he could get a 4 year $12M deal?
3. Why would Indy send any pick when Indy knows they can over pay and get Hoyer with no picks?
4. Indy talks to Hoyer's agent, Hoyer's agent tells BB and any team that Hoyer has a deal and will not report if traded.
5. NFL contracts do not mean the players are without options. Just call the agent ;-).
6. BB knows the drill and respects the players. All the players know that BB genuinely respects their commitment and personal situation. Look at Bennett's comments earlier this year.
7. Older free agent contracts are one of the Pats lifelines as we pick at the bottom of every draft round.
8. The 6th or 7th rounder is not as important as BB's reputation.
9. Indy has > $15M in cap space in 2020 and will pick a rookie QB in the 2020 draft - Hoyer is the perfect player/coach in Indy. Smart move by Indy.
How does Hoyer have a say? How is that different from ANY NFL player having a say? You can make that argument for every trade that ever gets made.
