Ironically, Hoyer could be a reliable mentor for Daniel Jones in NY and could step in as Backup in lost-cause situations where they don't want to expose Jones, who seems to be the real deal.
Eli has made it clear to everyone that he isn't inclined to do much to help Jones, a la Favre and A-aaron. Hoyer brings a lot more as a mentor, given his time under Brady, Josh and Belichick, than the 31 year old Alex Tanney who hasn't managed to stick anywhere.
