Hoyer Cut

I find it unbelievable that the Patriots thought they could cut Hoyer and not
lose him.

Who cares? He’s gone now. Next man up.

Only in NE would there be such hand-wringing over a career backup QB who has muddled his way through the league as a mediocre to terrible starter.

They've said in the past that they're prepared to lose anyone they cut.

Any guesses on what the "lot of things" were?

Maybe doing Hoyer a solid by letting him hit the free market instead of pushing him off to some QB needy team (Phins?) for a late round draft pick?

We all know BB is cut throat in general but some times he does seem to go out of his way to help players he likes get themselves a good deal.

Congrats to Hoyer's agent, they knew IND was in a place of need, and used all the leverage they had to get a cap/cash rich team to pay their man.

It must have been nice to be able to say "We have six teams interested in Hoyer and can always go back to NE for another season of hanging out with his bud TB12 and playing toss with the backups for another salary bump".

9 million guaranteed....with Hoyer's career earnings being 12 million at that point....

Can't blame the man...nor can I blame the Pats for cutting him loose....we just had too many players this year.

We will still be churning the roster...prediction:

a.) Lance Kendricks gets cut next week (think BB is doing him a solid in having him serve his one game suspension before releasing him).

b.) One of LaCosse/Izzo gets cut in week 5 when Watson returns.

c.) We shuffle WR's again when Harry is ready to go in week 8....and maybe when Meredith is ready to roll too....if at all.
