Demaryius Thomas cut

Going out on a limb - Harry doesn't play a down this season and is "red shirted"

Gee I hope not going off recent history. And I hope that limb breaks with you. :D Can't live with another First or Second Rounder getting the dreaded redshirt year.

Being cut in the NFL isn't an easy pill to swallow. For most players, they're able to bounce back and make it with another franchise. For Ross Ventrone, he's able to pick himself up and recover from the disappointment of being released and re-join the team that just waived him.

Incredibly, he's done it a dozen times.

Ventrone was re-signed to the New England Patriots practice squad on Wednesday, marking the 30th transaction between him and the team. He's been signed by the Patriots 14 times, released 11 times, and brought up from the practice squad five times. That tallies up to a ridiculous 30 transactions, and the two sides may not be done yet.

From what I read it seems like they had a under the table handshake as he was released to make room for somebody to put somebody on ir then bring him back allegedly.
I hope your source wasn't Rapaport because he's a liar.

The irony. LOL So you know Gordon wont last 16 games. ok

Just read more and post less stupidity. How about that for starters?
Does BB have your phone? Is he your friend? Does he call you at home?

This tally doesn't include the Patriots hiring him as a coach, and then his quitting that job to go to the Colts.

Precisely! So how are we getting DT on the team again ?

This is a tough one. They seem to really like GO and JM. JG and JE arent going anywhere. They really like PD. DT is a luxury not a necessity but it would be nice to have him. But at what expense?
You forgot Henry, I mean NH.

Where’s that dude who was insistent that I “follow the money trail” in regards to Demaryius Thomas’ situation? He’ll know what’s going on.
Unless Thomas went on PUP I don't get your point.

And anyway he'll be back by Monday like he never left.

As discussed at length, there were plenty of options on the table, including reserve PUP to start the year, an outright cut (as we saw), making the 53 man roster, an injury settlement, etc.

The fact that Thomas only ended up earning a 150k signing bonus while getting cut kind of solidifies the fact that there was absolutely zero evidence of any type of predictive “money trail,” but I’m guessing that deep down, you already know this.

No idea how legitimate this report is, but worth noting. Seems unlikely to be true given today’s earlier reporting.

Demaryius Thomas could end up back in Denver
A bit of a curious move showcasing him in a week 4 preseason game just to let everyone else know that he’s recovered from a serious injury, then deciding to cut and expose him less than 48 hrs later.

I can’t fathom the idea of Belichick being this stupid, so he must be coming back here. Either that, or they simply didn’t want him and were doing him a favor by letting him play on Thursday.

All I ever claimed was he wouldn't start the season on PUP based on his contract, and he didn't so I was right. Other than that I have no idea what you're talking about.

I don’t mean to sound like a broken record, but I’ve been saying for weeks that Thomas is not going to make the team and will be a surprise cut. The contract he signed made him easily expendable should the team decide to opt out. He made a lot of sense in February when N’Keal Harry and Jakobi Meyers weren’t on the Patriots, Josh Gordon appeared to be a distant prayer, and the Brady-Dorsett connection was very questionable. The offseason has changed the circumstances. The Patriots have a lot of options at the WR position, and it’s questionable why you’d want a 33-year old WR coming off an Achilles injury instead of a handful of players on rookie contracts without the injury history.

Okay, but your claim was that there was some type of a predictive money trail led from the inclusion of some basic NLTBE incentives. That was not only incorrect, but the contract itself no longer exists.

At any rate, it hardly matters. Let’s just hope that he returns because I think the offense is better with him on the field.

I understand your point and it makes a lot of sense. We may have a bit of a different opinion in terms of what he can still do, so that’s why I’m hoping that he returns. I think his size and experience are still useful tools to draw coverage, take some downfield shots, and act as a much needed RZ target.

I don’t believe that he’ll be back, though. I think they gave him the opportunity to showcase his skills out of respect, and that may have included leaking the report of his return to help create a market. It could also explain the long hug with JMcD. Otherwise, the way they handled it would be curious to say the least. Either way, in BB we trust.

"Could end up back in Denver" really means nothing. He could end up anywhere. He could retire. He could get a surprise inheritance from an uncle he never knew existed and buy the Patriots from Robert Kraft.
