Andrew Luck Retires from NFL

I think Luck is an example of a really talented guy who got stuck with a sh.tty franchise, and when it came down to it just didn’t love football. He’s smart enough to know there are other opportunities for him as long as he has his wits about him, and wasn’t going to diminish that be continuing to play. Best wishes to him going forward.

How important is football in some fans lives?
An Indy TV station did 90 straight minutes with no commercial interuptions on the Luck retirement.

Have you ever been to Indy?

I personally really liked Luck. Seemed like a genuinely nice guy and a competitor

Sucks that mismanagement has taken a toll on his career

Didn’t the comment by irsay about luck’s injury come out about 10 days ago? And that was when they shut luck’s preseason down? Seems like the discussions started then, and they knew. Just wondering how they kept it out of the press? But then, Indy sports writers do suffer feces myopia....

Wow. What a development to wake up to.

This sucks for Luck.

Must be very deflating to the Indy organization.

[Sorry. I had to get them out of my system...]

This was almost Jim Plunkett's fate but he was lucky enough to get traded away from the franchise that was trying to kill him.

**** Colts fans. My ex-gf got spit on in a restaurant’s bar the night before the AFCCG in 2006 just for wearing Pats gear. This was a pretty upscale place too. So upscale that the mayor’s entourage and/or security detail stepped in to break things up and forcibly removed the main culprit.

I was at that game too.

Were you at Elmos?

Who will they suck for this time? Tagovailoa?
Hopefully Jacoby will keep them from getting the next "savior".

Sorry to see him go as he seemed like a good guy. Because he is on the Colts I will quickly get over that emotion.

Career ended up as a disappointment. Touted as a tier one all-time great when drafted and that opinion seemed to carry throughout his career despite his accomplishments being tier 2. Seemed like "this year" would be the one and it never happened. He definitely got beaten up a lot early but much of that was due to his style of play as it was to a bad OL in my opinion. I've always felt that Brady and the Pats style of play makes their line look much better than it actually is (2018 playoffs being an exception) and if Luck or the Colts had the ability to adjust he would have been hit much less.

Had a great comeback against the Chiefs and a solid win against the Broncos in the playoffs but have trouble recalling any other memorable Luck moments. Career will ultimately be defined as a giant "what if..."

I flew over it a couple of times.
Exactly, nothing there but the colts.....I remember an old Johnny Carson joke about Baltimore....Baltimore headline, orioles win pennant, and below the fold, Russia bombs New York, millions killed. Indy is similar.

Barring a major upset somewhere, the AFC title game will once again be the Chiefs and Pats. Question is where will said game be. Btw Chiefs fans are convinced the AFC is now theirs.

It’s a long season. I’d rather keep quiet and take it game by game. Brady’s continued good health is a huge factor in that prediction. We’ll see.

People are going to rip on this post, but it isn't that wrong. I wouldn't call him a bust, but he was absolutely a disappointment. Dude was billed as the next great, sure-thing QB, to the point that they bailed on Manning to get him. All for a guy who retired before age 30 having never made an all pro team. If you were billed as the next great thing, failing to be a top 5 QB at any point in your career has to be considered a disastrous outcome considering the expectations.

If he would have played for the Patriots, we would have won a Super Bowl with him and be heading into the prime of his career.

Just goes to show how truly fortunate we are to have Scar on the staff.

Also, shows that there isn't a lack of talent in the NFL......it's a serious lack of coaching and front office.

Playoffs :
12 TDs
13 INTs

And that is after a 3-1 2018... people are obsessed with his regular season stats. Yet he was an INT machine in the playoffs vs real teams.

Furthermore, Andy Reids Chiefs gifted Luck a post season win. Chiefs were up by 28 POINTS in the 3rd quarter and head case Jamal Charles took himself out of the game. Instead of burning up the clock, Reid kept on staring at his Dennys play menu and passing thereby giving the ball back to Indy for the 45 - 44 win.
