Chung cocaine indictment?

I don't really care tbh.
It goes beyond an off-field personal life issue as he'll probably be suspended, and that will impact the team. And don't forget, it will be Roger Goodell who makes the call.

The NFL and the NFLPA prohibit Players from the illegal use, possession, or distribution of drugs, including but not limited to cocaine; marijuana and synthetic cannabinoids; opiates and opioids; methylenedioxymethamphetamine (MDMA); and phencyclidine (PCP). The abuse of prescription drugs, over-the-counter drugs, and alcohol is also prohibited.

Marijuana won't be punished like other drugs

All players will be tested at least once per league year during training camp for substances of abuse, including marijuana. However, it'll take more violations to reach the advanced discipline stages for marijuana than for cocaine, amphetamines, opiates, opioids, phencyclidine or MDMA.

A first offense for any of those drugs enters a player into Stage One of the intervention program for up to 90 days. If a player tests positive again while in Stage One, he'll be subject to an immediate three-week fine and advanced to Stage Two.

In Stage Two, players will be subject to unannounced testing up to 10 times a month and marijuana is separated into its own discipline structure. Here's how the term sheet lays it out:

If player is in the program by testing positive for either marijuana (MJ) or other banned substances of abuse (O):

Next violation relating to MJ 2 game fine

Next violation relating to O 4 game fine

Player's last discipline was 2 game fine for MJ:

Next violation relating to MJ 4 game fine

Next violation relating to O 4 game fine

Player's last discipline was 4 game fine for MJ or O:

Next violation relating to MJ 4 game suspension

Next violation relating to O 4 game suspension, entry into Stage 3 for O

Player's last discipline was for 4 game suspension for MJ or O:

Next violation relating to MJ 10 game suspension, entry into Stage 3

Next violation relating to O Banishment, can reinstatement after 1 year

Obviously disappointed to hear this news. It's particularly interesting though in the context of Chung's active participation in the Titans preseason game when he was helping send signals to teammates from the sideline in a quasi-coach like role. It could be completely unrelated and just Chung's nature to be involved however he can, but could also be a case of the player finding additional ways to enhance his value to the team in light of this indiscretion.

I know he could not be on the sidelines as a player during any suspension, but if he faces a lengthy or indefinite suspension, does anyone know if he could be released and then brought back as an assistant coach?

I think there's unfortunately no way he doesn't get 4 games if not cut outright. It's not weed possession or even an alcohol DUI (while much worse ethically, the entire Cardinals front office gets away with it).
Yea I guess in that sense you're right. I'm ok with 4 games I just hope it doesn't mean he gets cut or spends time behind bars

Nothing wrong with a little cocaine.

Chris Carter thinks Chung needs a "fall guy"

This is crucial, and really demonstrates just how absurd the whole situation is.

It was at his house, not in the public eye, and not being distributed as far as we know. Definition of a victimless crime.

If they searched his premises without a warrant this should be thrown out and the officers present should be reprimanded. Heck, even if it was lying in plain sight, that was not the reason they came (the alarm was), so they have no business pursuing a charge over an unattended bag of coke in someone's house, when it's entirely unrelated to why they initially arrived.

Plain View Doctrine

No way the Police even try and make a case if it wasn't in plain view. Most likely still on the mirror on the kitchen table or coffee table.

This may get more attention than Hill beating his kids

always something:(
Can't have a drama free off-free season.

Ugh, he plays such a key role covering TEs...

Guy's career is 100% over, with the Patriots anyways.

Patriots’ Chung facing Belknap County drug charge

According to this, it says the police responded to a tripped burglar alarm, entered the house, and found cocaine. So Chung was most likely not home at the time. I'm guessing he figured it out when he got home and his cocaine was gone.

So plenty of wiggle room for the Cris Carter's fall guy if that is truly the scenario. "I wasn't there I let Ty Law's cousin use the place" and bingo, Chung is off the hook.

So I don't think he needs Kraft's legal team, hopefully he can somehow place himself somewhere far away from NH on that date.

Remember you can indict a ham sandwich, all prosecution, no defense in the grand jury room. Proving it in court, that's another story.

Well that settles it, obviously his cousin left it there!

Why the hell would the Patriots cut him over this? Unless he was moving a ton of weight and facing real prison time, which has not been indicated yet, that would seem to be a move where they would be cutting their nose off (no pun intended) to spite their face.
Why would they cut him unless some things happened that would lead to them cutting him lol thanks Kontra

They've done it before; we've seen cases of the police doctoring or planting evidence, especially as it relates to drug charges. It's not out of the realm of possibility to believe that perhaps, sometimes, the police do in fact falsify information/evidence.

That's not to say all LEOs do so, and I'd wager those that do are in the minority. But it happens nonetheless so I'm not unwilling to rule it out. Is it likely? Probably not. But possible.

But let's assume the coke was in plain sight. The law clearly states it can be used as evidence of a crime, but does that law seem just? If the initial reason they came was unrelated to drug usage, why would it be appropriate to address the matter? That's another discussion for another time and probably best that it doesn't occur in this thread.

If you test positive you get 4 games.
Does the CBA say anything about possession?
Especially in a home, where it can be found anywhere, not necessarily on your person, especially in a home occupied or visited by other people.
What does the CBA say about all of this?

Verbatim from the Personal Conduct Policy.......

Players convicted of a crime or subject to a disposition of a criminal proceeding (as defined in this Policy) are subject to discipline. But even if the conduct does not result in a criminal conviction, players found to have engaged in any of the following conduct will be subject to discipline. Prohibited conduct includes but is not limited to the following:
  • Actual or threatened physical violence against another person, including dating violence, domestic violence, child abuse, and other forms of family violence;
  • Assault and/or battery, including sexual assault or other sex offenses;
  • Violent or threatening behavior toward another employee or a third party in any workplace setting;
  • Stalking, harassment, or similar forms of intimidation;
  • Illegal possession of a gun or other weapon (such as explosives, toxic substances, and the like), or possession of a gun or other weapon in any workplace setting;
  • Illegal possession, use, or distribution of alcohol or drugs;
  • Possession, use, or distribution of steroids or other performance enhancing substances;
  • Crimes involving cruelty to animals as defined by state or federal law;
  • Crimes of dishonesty such as blackmail, extortion, fraud, money laundering, or racketeering;
  • Theft-related crimes such as burglary, robbery, or larceny;
  • Disorderly conduct;
  • Crimes against law enforcement, such as obstruction, resisting arrest, or harming a police officer or other law enforcement officer;
  • Conduct that poses a genuine danger to the safety and well-being of another person; and
  • Conduct that undermines or puts at risk the integrity of the NFL, NFL clubs, or NFL personnel

What a dumbass. But there should be plenty of wiggle room for him to get out of it if the cops just showed up and randomly found some coke in his house while he wasnt even there.

Frankly, it's kind of a ****ish-even-by-cop-standards to even arrest the guy at all under those circumstances, but I grew up not too far from the area in question and I'm... not surprised. S

my prediction...........this does not conclude until after the season and then he retires

What a dumbass
I mean you don't think clearly when you are high.
Are we just going to pretend the video with Odell Beckham the Hooker and the plate of cocaine never happened?

I'll give Pat the benefit of the doubt seems like Obi or Dawson just made the roster.
