This was interesting from the moment they drafted Bailey. I wonder what they thought Allen lost last year.

Wowza. Most of us were thinking it ...but when it actually happens...

Two years in a row they brought in competition for Allen. The thought that he lost something has been in coach’s mind for a while

They are doing Allen a solid to give him time to catch on. I have no complaints about him as a punter and all but maybe 2-3 other teams would be lucky to have him.

Dude is about as consistent as it gets. Maybe he lacks the hang time or leg of other guys but he is average in those and great in everything else. How many times did he make it land exactly at the 10 yard line? It was nearly robotic. I don't recall the last time he had a truly bad punt. It must have been years. Also I'll miss him in the JE11 youtube videos. He had a good sense of humor.

Ok, not Fing around.

Allen played the same amount of games for the pats as Hanson and Mesko combined. Most games all time for a NE punter.

The writing was so clear on the wall that people are questioning my wallpaper choices

Good luck to Allen. I thought he was a serviceable punter; not terrible, not great. But he did have a great super bowl last year. Here’s hoping he sticks around the league.

Jesus. Even our punting game is going to be exciting this year!!!! ;);)

In Bill we......... wait..... WTF!!

The biggest surprise is that they traded up for a punter.

After that draft I think we all saw this as a very real possibility.

Even still, you have to let it sink in now that it's official. Ryan Allen served us well, but in true BB fashion we move on.

Jake Bailey
  • Played at Santa Fe Christian (Calif.) and connected on 12-of-16 field goals – including 54-yarder – as a senior. Also made 26-of-27 extra points.
  • Made three field goals of 50 or more yards and 40 touchbacks on 47 kickoffs as a senior

Value also figures in. Allen will certainly play somewhere. Mildly surprised they didn’t get a pick for him. Courtesy early release.
