For those of you who have followed the off season much more closely than me. Sell me on why Meyers isn’t another Tyms, Bam Childress, Chris Harris (muffed punt guy? May have the name wrong).

We’ve gone through many pre season stud wide outs that didn’t amount to anything.

Basically the main difference is the guys above had little (if any) work on the first team. Meyers led the first team in receptions and catch percentage in training camp. That’s a good sign. Only Thompkins saw extensive first team work.

He’s also dominating the preseason. He has 12 receptions + two 2 PT conversions through 2 games with the next leading WR at 4 receptions. I checked briefly and no player has passed 15 receptions in the preseason going back to when they had data in 2013.

Meyers comparison remains Thompkins who developed a chemistry with Brady & beat first teamers at practice. That’s no guarentee he’ll pan out but there isn’t much comparison to the preseason 3rd team heroes of the past (Harper, Carr, Tyms, etc.)

Completely disagree. Skipper looked like he played most of the game at BOTH left and right OT and did another solid, if unspectacular job.

NOW I don't want him to be our starter, I'm just hoping he'll be as good as Waddle was and be a fill in for short term injuries. But here's what I do like about him. He's getting better. He's improved a LOT since I saw him in person at TC. Clearly he's been taking to Scar's coaching. I think if the season started tomorrow, Thuney would be the first choice to replace Cannon or Wynn. However as the season goes on, and if Skipper can continue to improve, then I wouldn't be shocked to see him be the Swing Tackle by mid-season.
I will add.. skipper will look a ton better when Brady is at qb and getting rid if the ball quickly. He will make skipper all the better coupled with his continued improvement.

Meyers reminds me of a possession type WR like Vincent Brisby back in Parcells days. As we know, training camp warriors can get a lot of work and can get a lot of juice from fans because of it. He looks like he should make the team but like you say, there's no guarantee what that'll mean going forward.

Winovich was a beast. The Tits second and third string OL got clowned by him time and time again. They hardly belonged on the same field.

A casual observation from Draft Weekend when the naysayers critiqued BB's draft, at this stage the Pats appear to have done well.. Harry, Williams, Winovich, Stidham, Harris, Stidham, Bailey and UDFA Meyers.. looks like a very good draft, but time will tell as the season progresses.

The play of Williams, Winovich, Stidham, Harris, Bailey and Meyers looked impressive last night..

The jury is out on Cajuste and Froholt... but they may stick also..
You're obviously biased trying to sneak Jarett on your draft list twice.

Love him. He’s a workman. He’s set up nicely to have a good, long career here.

Your forgetting the greatest 3rd team hero of them all, Bam Childress.

Those other guys might have flashed here and there. Meyers, on the other hand, has been dominant throughout camp and in the 1st two preseason games. There’s no comparison really. Now, I’ve not seen enough to put him in Canton yet, but I’ve seen enough to convince me that’s he’s going to be a good, productive WR here for some time. Watch how he releases from the LOS. Watch how He catches the ball. He’s different and better than any rookie WR who has come through here other than Deion Branch in the Belichick era.

Yep, it's not just the numbers he's putting up, it's how he's doing it. He looks totally in control, always where he's supposed to be, doing the little things to get open, catching every pass cleanly away from his body. In a preseason game like this, even successful plays tend to look a little wild because the personnel is constantly shifting. Veteran Inman's receptions looked that way; rookie Meyers' didn't. He's not an electric athlete, but looks remarkably smooth and reliable.

It also might not be good news for Obi (and possibly Ebner)

I think Dawson at safety is to replace McCourty, Obi at safety is to replace Chung and Ebner is not a safety but strictly ST. Not sure they are related.

ST will be very interesting because I like BB was not really pleased last year and is looking to upgrade. He brought Bolden back and we will see how he shakes it up. I don't have any stats but I think our 2018 special teams play was a bit down.

NFL Game Pass. You can watch preseason games live or replays of them and every regular season game. I live in FL and wait until Sunday night to watch regular season games if they're not on national TV here. It's a lot cheaper way to watch than NFL Sunday Ticket.

I was a loyal Gamepass subscriber for several years. Was a good product and for an overseas guy the most reliable way to catch your own team (if you have A team and aren't just trying to see any game). . . .

Then came PV=nRT Gate. I refuse to send my money that direction so long as GotoHell is still employed.

It sux sometimes trying to catch Pats when they are playing a nobody and Ran.de /ProSieben aren't showing them on TV. Most of the free streams have issues with the foreign country/EU restrictions. But I make do. and relish that I voted my displeasure w my $200.

Everybody free to make their own choice, but my opinion is don't use gamepass if you are a patsfan. Leave it to the jete.

If Meyers does not make the team and at a minimum become a solid contributor I will never follow pre-season WR play ever again. I admit to being very excited about what he may be able to do this year and beyond and if it is ultimately a mirage I will finally hang up what little prognosticating skills I have left.

All those other scrub WRs I never believed in except for Tyms fooled me.

He was beating CB's and I thought we finally had a deep threat.

But they knew. I'm not sure he beat #1 CB's like Meyers. I remember the passes being from Jimmy.

It will be interesting next week against the #1's. How/if they use Meyers will tell a lot.

There’s no way possible Meyers doesn’t make the team. At this point, he could piss on Linda’s wig & he'd still be fetching the rock from the GOAT week 1. BB is all about winning football games.

Yeah as Stephen G missing two F.G. in a row. As wonder if he has an injury or that he has to deal with possibly a new punter holding. But he is saying to Bailey, not so fast in the kickoff department....he did get three touch backs.
I have no concerns regarding Gost. He's proven himself up to this point and I would rather see him miss now then after. It's why they play in the preseason.

I always thought her hair was real ?

Skipper reminds me of someone running around frantically sticking his fingers in dyke holes (keep it clean) to prevent the the damn from giving way instead of having a stronger infrastructure base with better technique. I prefer to have St. Louis at swing / backup.

Cowart has been a pretty big surprise to me. He looked good in training camp and in both preseason games. I think he might be ahead of Pennel and Butler and DT #3 while also be able to play in the 3 man front

On Cowart's splash play, the OL he tossed like a ragdoll was a veteran starter. He's a heck of a physical specimen, a 5-tech type with massive, powerful arms and decent explosion. But he never put it together in college, bouncing around between programs and positions. IF they can unlock his potential, look out.

I'm starting to think Cowart is going to take Pennel's spot on the roster...not that they are similar players and size but Cowart is playing really well...and so is Shelton who is more similar to Pennel.

On Hoyer's early interception. If he had thrown the ball a bit ahead of the receiver, it would have been catchable and Logan would not have been able to undercut the receiver and intercept. But the throw was a mini-second late and slightly behind the receiver's hands.

Moyer's touchdown pass to Myers was likewise a mini-second late and behind the receiver's hands. Fortunately, Myers had a half step on the defender and was able to make a slight adjustment to compensate for Hoyer's ill-timing. Sure, a touchdown, but against NFL first-stringers, it would have been another interception.

This sort of thing will just not do when the games count.
