The one who gets suspended.
I think from a production point (and given a limited playbook to be fair) Gordon easily outplayed DT last year before injury and at this stage of their careers Gordon has potential to still become an elite WR....to your point , Thomas is coming back from a devastatingly difficult injury to come back from...and Gordon may not get reinstated....so yes BOTH are question marks!

Brady will definitely get a statue ....GOAT!!!!

LOL Bro Brady gave him a ****in reg season trophy. We joke abt things like that for Colts & Jets but 12 just handed a NFL HC (albeit his boy) a trophy on the field for LAST year's REG season win. Vrabel was not happy.

We need a statue of this great man in the great city of Boston.

no guarantee in the least that Thomas can make it back fully or won’t get injured again either....again big question marks with both...but reports having Gordon in best shape of life, probably with much better understanding of playbook and had been working a lot with TFB in offseason....If I had to gamble it would be on him easily....

Everyone made that argument about Gordon last year. Knowing it’s his last shot doesn’t seen to make any difference.
If Thomas is healthy he is better than a guy who is all it certain to be suspended again before long simply because a player on the field is better then one in rehab.

Reports are N’Keal flew back to Boston. Wonder why.
Simply because he’s not playing @ TEN so he went back to NE for treatment. That’s it.

The

The question isn’t always who will help the team this year, it’s often who will help the team this year, and potentially for the next 4 years.
I think Thomas will be on a beach with a fishing rod within next 2-3 years! ....hopefully Gordon won’t be in a rehab....again...

That’s what I’m saying. I don’t think there’s a big upside to him. I’d rather take the risk with Gordon and get some sort of return as opposed to taking a risk on a broken down old guy and hoping there’s something left.
If he wasn’t coming back from an Achilles (very tough for anyone never mind WR) and the fact that his skills seemed to be declining before injury....I’d have more hope....if Gordon can get reinstated....you would definitely rather have the healthy elite guy right now!!!

That’s kind of the point. Gordon is as big a gamble as exists. You can pretend he will suddenly become a different person but he is suspended time and again and can’t make it through a season.
I don’t know why people keep bringing injury into a discussion about what Thomas wold be IF HEALTHY but if he is he would easily fill what we need and not be a suspension waiting to happen.
It’s got nothing to do with Gordon’s ability while on the field it has to do with the razor thin chance he will be there when it really matters.

If BB and Vrabel are this happy with what they've seen in practice, this probably means that Saturday's game is going to start a lot of third stringers.
Plus it's a short week next week, Thursday night game.

Ok very fair points here Andy....lets hope they BOTH make it back and stay healthy and clean! That would be incredible

Today will be a walkthrough practice and the game will be Saturday. Harry is likely better off at Gillette rehabbing then sitting around Tennessee for 2 days.

Every year, people start saying silly things about players, for no real reason. You seem to be going down that path. How the hell is there "no big upside" to a player who had caught 80+ passes in 6 consecutive seasons prior to last year? It's not as if he played 16 games last year, with elite QBs, and had 5 catches or something like that, after all.

Thomas could completely flame out, particularly given the nature of his injury combined with his age. However, to say that there's no big upside to him is insane.

I don't think it's "silly" to think that a receiver who was fading prior to a major injury isn't likely to make a big impact on the team. A lot of these high end receivers production declines over the last couple years of their career then an injury puts a nail in the coffin.

Torry Holt: 2007 93 catches 1189 yards and a Pro Bowl, 2008 64 catches for 796 yards, 2009 51 catches for 722 yards on a new team. By the next year he signed with us got injured and that was that.

DT: 2016 90 catches for 1083 yards and a Pro Bowl, 2017 83 catches for 949 yards, 2018 59 catches for 677 yards and a new team. Hurt and signed with us.

But...but...but...doom and gloom.

Holt was 34. Thomas is 31. One year older than Randy moss when he came here and was supposedly done because of injuries too.

Thomas’ production is impacted by terrible quarterbacking and a midsession change of teams. You can’t just dismiss that.
Sure recovering from the injury is a concern but to act like Thomas is over the hill is silly.

Not sure why you are rooting against who has been a stud receiver as if you want him to fall
apart but he would be a great addition if he is healthy.

Why is it logically valid to hand wave Thomas' major injury away with "IF HEALTHY" but it's just too much of a leap to think Gordon could play again?

Btw, I think Gordon is the better WR all else being equal.

If you don't think Holt is a good comp then look at Dez. Dez was a physical legitimate WR1 started to get banged up his numbers declined. After having trouble finding a new team ended up with the Saints popped his achilles and that may be it for him. I agree that the quarterback play may have something to do with it but he also isn't anywhere near as fast as he used to be. He still had decent production because he looks to be a solid route runner. Will he still be a solid route runner coming off an achilles injury? Will he be able to stop and start and come out of breaks the way he needs to? I would love to be wrong and have him look like 2015 DT, I just think it is very unlikely.

As for Moss I don't think people thought he was done because of injuries. Aside from Raiders OC Tom Walsh who basically said Moss was washed up and lazy I think most people just thought he was lazy.

Don't think we know that yet, but with him returning punts and 100% healthy while the other two aren't, I think he has a great chance of making the team. What do you think?

So, do you believe that Berrios is a better WR than Dorsett? than Harris?

The only locks at this point in time is Edelman & Harry, the rest with Dorsett & Meyers out in front all have a chance based on injury status & performance except Patterson, Davis and Gunner (the last 2 I'd like on PS). 2 games and a handful of practices left to make a difference or lose it in BB's mind.

???

It happens all the time. A player is great in practices and/or great in exhibitions, but can't handle things when the NFL games get real.
Ok, u r right, But I would mighty surprise if that happens

EVERY practice he stands out. He hasnt beaten 1st teams in real game, for sure, but at this point Id be surprised if he isnt at least a serviceable player;
Kembrell Thompkins was a training camp favorite but struggled in real games.

Time will tell with Myers.
Personally, I don't recall Thompkins being as good Meyes was in TC. Yeah, he flashed, but he didnt do acrobatic catches, 50/50 catches, extremely good release, good understanding of the playbook and, perhaps more importantly, Thompkins definetely didnt get out of the field because Tom Brady was trusting him TOO much.

I think this guy is an unprecedent rookie undrafted WR, at least for me. Actually, Ill just come out and say it: I have never seen such amazing reports by a Rookie WR of ours like this. Granted, im not an old-schooler of the game, but this has been unparalleled to me

Yeah and Kenbrell Thompkins was a body catcher too:rolleyes: I knew that was going to be his ticket out of the NFL. Jakobi Meyers seems like a completely different beast he has developed a good rapport with Brady already something not easy to do early on.
