No gatorade shower?

I’m really interested to see how we’ll start the season at the WR position.

I’ll play :

Edelman, Dorsett, Harry, Harris, Meyers

Berrios tough cut.

as bad as BB is at drafting 2nd round DBs, he is very good at drafting DEs.

It's kind of funny, here are all of the 4-3 DE types drafted by the Belichick Patriots in the top 3 rounds of the draft before Winovich:

Derek Rivers
Geneo Grissom
Chandler Jones
Jake Bequette
Jermaine Cunningham
Shawn Crable
Marquise Hill

It's a good reminder that leaguewide, most draft picks -- even high picks -- fail.

i think if there's a few WRs who look equally good in preseason/camp, it might come down to age, $$$s and contract length...so berrios and meyers beats out harris (and even JG, DT, PD maybe)

i think the only absolute locks at WR are edelman and harry (including from our suspended/hurt)

could be, but I suspect that Rivers or Cowart will sneak through

How many DEs do you think they'll carry, especially given that the stacked LB corps features three guys who are 6'3" and 250+ lbs? Could Bennett, Wise, Simon and Winovich be the total?

Have to think Meyers in approaching “lock status”.

One UDFA a year seems to a lock a WR during the pre-season. The list is long.

Have to think Meyers in approaching “lock status”.

Gladly the draft has 7 rounds. :D

Patriots teammates pulling for Josh Gordon beyond football
Did You Know (via ESPN's Stats & Information): The Patriots totaled nine sacks in Thursday's preseason opener against the Lions; the last time they amassed that many sacks in a regular-season game was Nov. 4, 2001 in a 24-10 road win against the Atlanta Falcons. The Patriots got to veteran Chris Chandler six times, and then-rookie Michael Vick three times.

Film Review: Jarrett Stidham Flashes Potential in Preseason Debut | CLNS Media
Back in June, it was already apparent that Stidham had the arm talent to make NFL throws, and we saw that on display in a game for the first time.

Where the rookie has made significant strides, however, is with his processing speed and ability to read coverages at a pro-level.

As recently as joint practices in Detroit, Stidham was hanging onto the ball in the pocket for an eternity passing on NFL open receivers because of a shy trigger finger.

Stidham’s time to release against the Lions was still on the slower side at 3.02 seconds, but he did release nine throws in under 2.5 seconds completing seven of those passes.

Yep, that's how they got Trey Flowers and Deatrich Wise! And Zach Moore, Michael Buchanan, Markell Carter and Justin Rogers. ;)

It always amazes me to look at past drafts of any team and see how few picks end up successful. As fans, we expect a huge hit rate and get upset when a "high pick" like Rivers doesn't pan out. (Rivers was drafted at the bottom of the 3rd round, lest we forget--the 15th DE selected.)

If from this draft, hypothetically, N'Keal Harry becomes a starter, Chase Winovich a valuable rotational player, Jarrett Stidham a reliable #1 backup and Jake Bailey a long-term punter, and the other 6 players all wash out, that's actually a really good draft.

Strange Damian Harris didn't play at all. Its possible they wanted to see Bolden run, catch and block to see if he can still handle that in emergency situations...in our offense...check. IMO they wanted to see this to help decide if they want to trade Burkhead or not.

He has been better than Vinatieri, with better accuracy (adjusting for kickoffs), longer range, and that doesn’t even account for his kickoff value. The only thing he’s done “wrong” is missed an extra point (which was 33 yards, not 19) and a couple of other misses which are overly magnified. That, and he never got the opportunity to have a Vinatieri moment where the season was on the line. Vinatieri missed some postseason field goals, too. This is all about perspective and narrative, not facts.

It won’t matter. We’re winning the super bowl and that’s all there is to it
