Rob Gronkowski moves to Florida

Income tax is based on where you work, not where you live.
In most cases, it is based on both where you live and where you work. There are exceptions and some states have reciprocal agreements, but the above is the general rule.

It’s not a “silly obfuscation” to point out that Bought Property =/= Moved There

According to your logic Tom Brady moved to New York some time ago. And yet, here we are.
It is true to say that some wealthy athletes own a lot of property in several states.

Tom Brady is still with the team. There is no debate about that.

Some people still believe that Rob Gronkowski is not retired so they go to extremes to prove that he is coming back. That is their opinion and they are entitled to it.

Lighten up Tommy. Like someone already posted this move may be for the lady friend.

Can he still eat lobstah in Florida?

I’m sorry but you are the only one here who trying to tell everyone “I told you so” in regard to Gronk. It’s like you are happy he’s retired. If the move for his GF, you can post it in the other thread.

And apparently some people believe that an ultra rich athlete buying some property in Miami means he has permanently moved there, forever locked in that state.

I am done with the other thread. This is really bad sportsmanship on your part. You cannot let go can you... The difference between you and I is that you believe that there is a 20% chance that he will return. (You stated that number in the other thread.) It is a binary choice: he is either 100% on the team or 0% on the team. 20% is a meaningless figure.

By the way I have complimented you more than once. Can you say the same about me?

Link? Who said that when?

PS: he is not locked out or in to any state but he is retired and he did sell his home in MA

I'd rather keep Florida and cut off California instead.

Why does it have to be an either/or situation? Why not both? If we are gonna dream might as well dream big. Heck, let's throw in NY and DC while we're at it.

Do fans wishing for a Gronk return flog themselves?

Gotta say I hate his choice of condo. Could do far better there.

FYI: For those reading import into this move, Gronk used to own a condo in the Tampa (I think, from memory) area years ago. BFD.

One can only hope so. ;)

There's a serious difference between those pining for it and those who just think "Hey, that would be great." I'm grateful for his contribution to the amazing run we've had and to have seen him play but all good things...and all that.

Yes we do. Here's some footage of the NFL (National Flogger's Association) training camp:

Sammy sure does have some folks furiously scratching.
You sly kitty, does this have anything to do with your recent investment in scratchingposts.com?

I like Florida.

Income tax is based on where you work, not where you live.
His has income from his NFL pension, which is taxed as income in the state where you live. Florida has no tax on pension income. 37 states do.

There are lots of ways to legally shelter freelance income (advertising, promotions, endorsements), wherever he lives. He or his agent can set up a company to handle his work legally, with him being the main employer. The company would pay business taxes, but those are lower in Florida than most places too.

I'm not going to name names but if you are mad at me, provide an address and I will send a scratching post and some cat nip. :)

uh oh! Someone has contacted me and told to forget the scratching post and cat nip and compensation should start with lobstah and beer...

As always you are a Cool Cat but you should probably rethink the latter part of that offer.
Some kittys appear to have already gone past their safe nip limit...

20% is not a meaningless figure when attempting to predict a future event. Predicting a future event is not even remotely a binary (even if the outcome itself is binary). You must somehow go through life without ever seeing weather forecasts.
