Patriots linebacker Elandon Roberts says he was harassed at home by police

He probably is. And that’s another problem. Cops that are pipsqueaks and have terrible fitness need to quit being hired. If it were up to me, I’d increase the difficulty of the aptitude tests to get into the academy and have them train in MMA. Muay Thai, Jiu Jitsu, etc. That said, I only see it as him describe his “suspect” when he pulled him over. No different if he had said “black male.” Unfortunately, this country has gotten to the laughable point where we can no longer call a black guy black without scrutiny by spineless, white turds with sticks up their asses. The type that reflexively apologize to people when they hold the door open for someone else and that person doesn’t thank them.
No kidding. I really don't understand what is wrong with calling someone "black" . The fact that is now perecived as a borderline racial slur is total ********.

The police officer was certainly justified in stopping him. However, the way ER and his wife were treated was just plain wrong.

Yeah, I’m going to refrain (or at least try to) from commenting much further. I woke up in a foul ****ing mood this morning and I’m itching to light someone up. Not the best mindset to discuss something like this. Let’s just say I agree.

Yea you do seem a bit irritated this am. Did you already work out? That's helps me when I want to destroy someone

Yeah. It didn’t really help. I didn’t sleep well last night so this might be an all day thing.

It depends on the context. Without hearing the audio of the encounter, it's difficult to say. However, describing someone as a "big black man" can be perceived as racist. It would have been better for the officer to say "6'3 black male" or "6'3 African American." Basically, what I got out of reading that article was that ER was pulled over in an affluent area for speeding and the officer felt like he didn't belong there as a "big black man." And you don't treat a woman like that by threatening to arrest her when she did nothing wrong.

Agree. He should have said, " large AA male" but in describing me if a cop said , "large white man" it is not racist. He was just describing my build.

It's a double-standard issue with me, that's all.

I don't have a problem with the officer using this description depending on the context, but I don't see how calling a suspect a "large white male" or "big black man" is helpful in police enforcement. What does "large" or "big" even mean? Does it mean 300 pounds? Does it mean 6'5? Unfortunately, there is a stereotype that all black men are "big" and "overgrown" individuals. That's why the cop's description could be perceived as racist. Depends on the audio of the encounter.

No, we wouldn’t. Especially if it fits.

I don't know how they do it in Texas but are people really trying to say that Roberts should have been arrested for going 15 over?

Yes he should have used more precise adjectives to describe ER but I'll cut him some slack here as I had no idea when combined with words"black man", "big " or "large" makes it a racial sterotype. Maybe he didn't know either.

It doesn’t. Racism is based on the belief that one race is superior to another. People need to learn that. What the cop said doesn’t fit. Google pulls the definition up literally at one’s fingertips. We’ve never been more connected to information as a people in documented history and, somehow, we’ve arguably never been dumber either.

Nobody wants to take the time to think anymore.

There is a big difference between racism and stereotyping a person. And racism is always (in my view) based on intent. Without seeing the cop's camera or hearing the audio of the encounter, it's difficult to say whether racism was (or was not) in play here. Did the officer treat ER and his wife the way he did because of his race? Does he treat everyone like that? Every situation is different. You can't assume all cops are racist. Sometimes they cross the line, but most of the time they don't.

Is Roberts big? Is he black? Is he a man?

He's not a jerk because he pulled him over for speeding, he's a jerk because he called backup for the "big black man" who would not comply with orders, when in fact he immediately complied with the cops orders.

Really glad that there is a bigger and bigger surge to make body cams a requirement on police officers. Keeps the entire system more honest.
Elandon Roberts: Big? Check. Black? Check. A man? Check. Why are we triggered about this? He was supposedly going well over the speed limit and got let off with a warning.
This is what I don't get. If the cops radioed in and said "just pulled over generic white guy" I wouldn't be offended.

Is Roberts big? Is he black? Is he a man?

Sure, but I’m not accusing the cop of racism. I just saw the video footage and it doesn’t seem like much. However, I would never describe someone as “the big black male.”

I think this is reaching. "Big" is racist now?
