Well it's official: Tom Brady, #1 Quarterback in NFL History

My test would be who I'd take for one game.

1. Brady
2. Marino
3. Montana

This is starting in 1976 when I began watching.

I am not a big fan of either Manning or Elway, as Manning would drop to around 7-10 for me, and Elway lower than that.

I rate Steve Young and Staubach in my top 5.

Again, this excludes Otto Graham.

I should add that in all this focus on statistics, these NFL commentators rarely if ever discuss the stadium elements. Brees and Manning had a lot of games in domes. Staubach had to visit RFK, Giants Stadium and the Vet in Philly 3x a year.

Young and Montana had it easier, but Marino did not.

Best analysis I've ever read on the topic. There will always be room to disagree as to who belongs where from #3--#25 (Brady at 1 and Montana at 2...I just don't see how one can argue that...but no doubt some will).

Otherwise, A-Aaron will be A-angry. Boo Hoo. Generous that he's in the top 10, IMHO.

Truly the Greatest.

They tried to knock him by calling him a system QB and he kept winning.

They tried to say he only won because of cameras and despite having everyone watching him through a microscope he kept on winning.

They tried to say he won because of 0.3 puffs of air missing from a football on a cold January day in NE and despite having everyone testing every ball in the entire league ( where are those test results btw) he not only kept on winning he won more and in such convincing fashion he has forced the league and its BSPN cronies into submission.

He pile drove every conspiracy right back up their asses with such force they've cried mercy.

And he's not done yet. Haha

Boom-freaking-shalaka

Exactly. My top five is Brady, Graham, Montana, Starr, Unitas. Top three of Brady, Graham, Montana should be basically bulletproof if you are including Graham in the rankings.

Manning is somewhere in a dogfight for 6-12ish. No one has ever underperformed so frequently in big games and failed to capitalize on so many chances to make legendary moments as Manning. What is his crowing moment? A broken play TD to Reggie Wayne in the SB against the Bears and then getting the SB MVP with the worst QB rating ever to win the award? Coming back against the Pats from 21-6 after choking as usual and beating a second string defense and Reche Caldwell led offense? The writer asks WHAT ARE BIG GAMES??? to defend Manning. Gee, I don’t know...maybe elimination games where you need to score to save the season? Something Brady has done too many times to count?
My forehead hurts.

Is there any debate any more? I mean, really, I get that we are a bunch of homers that love our guy, but really? He's clearly #1. the question is ... is he the best football player ever? He's certainly not the best athlete, but the real debate in my book is where does he rank on best all-time player list. Rice, LT, Brady, Brown, Payton...

Sammy Baugh #1 best player. Led league in passing, int’s and punting in the same year.

After SB 51 I was walking down the concrete ramps from the nosebleed sections and everyone was chanting in unison, "Brady! Brady! Brady!".....

I think that clinched it for me....and even BEFORE that comeback...Brady's numbers were:

17 years in the league
15 years as the starter
14 years in the playoffs (83%)
11 years in the conference title game (65%)
7 years in the Superbowl (41%)
4 Superbowl championships (24%)

Since then....add 2 more seasons, 2 more playoff berths, 2 more conference title games, two more Superbowls, and 1 more Superbowl win.....

Manning lead the league in interceptions in 1998...oh wait that was thrown, not caught...

I would argue Graham > Montana if we are including Graham as an eligible player.

Always odd to hear the statistical arguments about Manning being superior to Brady when their cumulative stats are actually slightly in Brady's favor. There is no question that the Pats were more conservative early in Brady's career but once he was needed to light it up he showed he was more than capable of doing so. Will be interesting to see where the newer QB's end up being ranked historically as the new rules have completely changed historical metrics and comparisons will become harder and harder to make. (Eli needs to hurry up and get in front of HOF committee because the longer he waits the worse his stats will look as a comparison)

Has Max Kellerman jumped aboard yet?
Why? Just why? Why do you always take the bait man? Someone needs to slap you silly. You're not ridiculing him. He's laughing at YOU. You're doing HIS job. You're doing what HE wants. Stop uttering his freaking name! Stop being a freaking sheep!

In a league with 8-10 teams with about 30 players on a team and 2 way football.
