SG/SF, undersized PF, small PG with a sizable need at center and what appears to be a decent chunk of available cap to work with. Can't help feel something is cooking in the background.Carson Edwards ... 3rd ranked PG
To Bol or not to Bol ............ stay tuned.
Knee jerk response (and I reserve the right to change my mind at any time prior to the start of camp):
I'm not sure it would even have been possible to have a worse draft if they had been trying to.
Dunno...IMO they couldn't do better nor worse.... they managed to trade Baynes...which makes this a productive night, IMO. This draft was a crapshoot after the 4th pick.
PG Tremont Waters ..... Later Rozier .......
I like Rozier ... but the reality may be that his cap hold is more valuable than the player.5'11" and 6'0" pgs drafted, and only 2 players from last year's second round managed to play in more than 65 games. I'm not saying that Rozier's staying, but you might want to hold off on his going away party, for now.

That's because he weighs 140 pounds.Bol Bol looks like he's 7'5"
Other than pushing a first into next year, none of the moves make sense at the moment, especially when Ainge's drafting has been problematic for a long time.*
- They traded away a guy who could give a legit 20 minutes a night at a position where they are currently all but completely barren, for cap space, at a time where there doesn't seem to be any player available to the Celtics who's worth the big cap spending.
- They drafted a point guard who's only 6 foot tall, when the idea of Stevens' system is to get players as close to even sized as possible.
- They drafted a wing, when they've already got Brown, Tatum and Hayward.
- They drafted a PF who's 6'6" - 6'7", not the shooter that they system calls for, and quite possibly not quick enough to make the kind of switches the system calls for.
*Again, this is just a knee jerk reaction. Time and/or (most likely it'll need to be the "or") later moves may make the draft look better.
They didn't draft Edwards to play the point. The drafted Edwards to be instant offense off the bench. This guy is a stone cold killer. Look at what he did in the tournament. IT 2.0, only healthy and better. The steal of the draft.
️ Wyc Grousbeck: "It's a good time to be trying to retool like this" The @Celtics' owner joins @Scalabrine & @KyleDraperTV to talk Kyrie/Horford rumors and how they can rebuild through the draft/free agency pic.twitter.com/qtqM5IVmK3
Wyc asked on @NBCSBoston to characterize state of team: “Building or re-tooling, we’re starting with a core of Marcus Smart, Gordon Hayward, Jaylen Brown, Jayson Tatum. Start with that and add in the rest of the roster, not to slight anybody, and then restricted rights on Terry."
I've got no problem with any number of fliers in round 2, whether they make sense or not, because 2nd round picks are so different from first round picks in the NBA. They're all but meaningless, in some ways. If anything, my problem with round 2 is that they didn't find a way to get Bol, who was the unicorn of this draft.
But this team went into the draft needing:
C
PG
real, actual PF with size
and came out 0 for 3 when it mattered.
