2018-19 Stanley Cup - Bruins vs Blues

And the 3rd and 4th lines did enough to overcome it. I know they don't call everything, this isn't a slash away from play. These are two easily identifiable calls that lead directly to points when they werent called. I didnt mention all the uncalled interference, the shots high to chara (shenn 1st shift every night). They claimed skill and speed and literally just gave the cup to the biggest collections if goons that managed to make the playoffs. Its a joke.

No they didn't, and that isn't a shot against the 3/4 lines. They played their balls off (ill take MoJo, Coyle, Kuraly and Nordstrom all day long, Heinen can eat ****)

MoJo/Coyle/Heinen -> 35 Points, + 15
Kuraly/Accari/Nordstrom -> 22 Points, + 8

It just wasnt enough to overcome the dominated top 2 lines.

Unexplained events.

Thank you.

Chara busting his jaw on a freak play. A line change with 8 seconds left resulting in a Blues goal. Binginton suddenly looking like Rask.

Pucks climbing sticks happens fairly often.

Binnington was good/great all playoffs. There was no "suddenness" to it.

Anybody watching from Canada last night?

Don Cherry was on wearing a lime green suit looking like the Riddler from Batman. He was on at intermission talking about the game in gibberish.

Thank you. He had a 1.89 GAA this season. He had a few stinkers this postseason (2 in the finals) but bounced back every time. He didn’t play like a backup goaltender.

Congratulations to the Blues and their fans. They earned the Cup. Tough loss but that’s part of the deal when your team plays for championships, they won’t always win.

Normally I'd at least buy the sentiment, but Game 5 was too much. I can't watch something like that and not think the league is tilting things. I can't support that. Too blatant not to address it. At least the NFL addressed the NFC CG disaster. I still feel the Pats should have played the saints, i'd have no qualms labelling this SB as tainted as a result. Thats on the league. They gave the young upstarts an unearned W against a team that's been a league enemy for years. Nobody wanted Brady/Brees competing with 5 head. Seam Payton has the same disdain and contempt for Goodell that BB does. It's no coincidence.

The refs cost the Bruins game 5. The refs cost the saints a trip to the SB.
I hear what you are saying and that game was BS but the Bs still had chances to win and they didn't.

Moving on.

It was a tough hard fought series. So used to ending up on the short end of the stick when it comes to this game , it was nice to finally win one.

Bruins made 3 cup finals in the last 9 seasons. Hard to do. I just wonder how much longer they can be successful with this current core. They are getting up there in age.

All of Chara, Bergeron & Krecji should retire, immediately.

and do so against the team that beat you nearly 50 years ago...

Honestly didn’t matter who we played. Nah I take that back, for me If we would’ve gotten matched up with Detroit it would’ve made it a little sweeter. A lot of pain Stevie Y and those boys inflicted in the 90s. Even though Boston beat us 50 years ago with that freeze frame of Orr diving as he drives a stake in our hearts it was before my time so i don’t hold any type of grudge against the Bs.

I think the current core may have 1 or 2 runs left assuming you mean Chara/Bergy/Krejci as a complete unit.

Chara does/should retire? He has one year left on his deal.

Bergy has 3 years left on his deal that takes him to age 37

Krejci has 2 years left on his deal that take him to age 34.

Does Chara give it another go at 42? Does professional pride step in and say "I'm not what I think I should be anymore?"

The team needs an infusion of size on the backend; Krug/Gryz are undersized.

MoJo, Accari are UFAs this offseason
McAvoy, Heinen, Carlo, Kampfer are RFAs

They seemed to have structured the core contracts to all expire in the 21-22 offseason

Which not so coincidentally is when the current CBA expires

They need a lot more beef to deal with the bigger teams.

I agree with the notion game 5 was the worst of them officiating wise.

Game 2 was an earned W, especially in OT with pretty much the entire offensive possession in the Blues offensive zone.

Wrong. Game 2 was won by a combination of 2 things. One, NHL rules which stupidly don’t allow for a “bench” player or two for injury replacments. 2, St. Louis knowing this and the Bs had to play one D down for 2 periods and OT. They ran out of gas in OT.

No, the league, directly or indirectly influenced these games. To what end or purpose? It can be debated. What cannot, is that they DID manufacture this series.

Where did I bring up anything about a series being manufactured. I stated the blues earned their W in game 2.

You say the Bs were out of gas in OT; That’s a fair point. Let’s just eliminate the Stats in OT. Puck possession close to even, blues outshot Boston 33-23 and outhit them 50-31. (Which will have an effect on Boston’s stamina). Blues also had to fight off 5 bruins PPs compared to 3 for Boston giving up 1 goal. That’s pretty solid given the bruins PP. Given the stats this game could’ve gone either way, how is me saying the blues earned the W the way they played wrong?

How is this any different than a kicker getting hurt in a game and then the team has to go to the punter for FG kicking duties? You deal with it. There are no emergency or standby players in professional sports.

Second, both teams were on equal footing heading into game 7 at 3-3. The league gave both teams a chance to win by only calling one penalty. It’s Boston’s fault for not showing up. They had the best PP and could not convert. Kreji had the best opportunity and missed.

This post is exactly what the decades long don’t blame officials/leagues brainwashing has accomplished. Brilliant social engineering. It is irrelevant how even footed the teams were tied 3-3. It was ruined far earlier than that. Again, this series is over in 4 or 5 IF officiated properly. A penalty is a penalty :30 seconds into game one just as it would be :5 seconds left in game 7. Instead the league disregards this theory for game/series management reasons. That happened quite plainly during this series. It is a patently unfair practice that can make an outcome different than it should be had it been allowed to play out organically.

Lets break down your roster theory. Yes, if the kicker gets hurt, that sucks. The fact that injuries to kickers are so rare, why carry 2? An NFL game day roster is 45 dressed players correct? 22 on field starters, plus 2 specialists makes 24 “starters” . My math sucks usually, but thats 21 extra bench players you can sub in and out or not use at all. Those 21 extra players are defacto injury subs. Baseball is the same way. Basketball as well.

The NHL extra guys are up on the ninth floor in street clothes.
