Why on Earth would Ryan Allen be absent when his job is in serious jeopardy?

My thought is that obviously the Patriots know very well what they have in Ryan Allen. I'm not saying they told him to stay home (or that he wouldn't benefit in some way by being there), just that I don't think his job is going to be won or lost in OTA's.

Because he knows as well as most of us that OTAs are borderline meaningless when it comes to job safety for veterans. The only reasonable way OTAs influence what will happen in camp for those players is if they get injured now.

Now the tryouts and edge of the 90 roster guys for them its different. But Ryan is clearly not one of those.

Boy oh boy, I don’t care that it’s May 23rd and these are OTA’s, I’m just so $&@&ing pumped to be getting football updates...

Ric Flair “Nature Boy” was the best.

Probably saw enough of his punting in the SB :D

Agree with your points.

He's been here since 2013, he's been all-in and clearly BB has valued him. If BB thought he was a slacker he wouldn't have resigned him

I'm sure there is a legit reason but on the surface it's just bad optics for a player to stay away when his job is clearly on the line

Age has dimmed my memory of possible injury issues. Why isn't Wise there?

Boy you're going to feel bad in 2 days when we find out he was donating a kidney to a dying orphan or something.
That's funny, I was thinking he was getting a massage at the local day spa.

No video yet of Harry? I'm kinda excited to see what a Stidham to Harry connection looks like with Pats colors.
Or what a Stidham to Jj Williams looks like.

No one's taking 87. ;)
Does anyone think Pats retire #87? Gronk only played about 9 years but he's got a bunch of records including most TDs and no one else is even close (JE11 has 30).

There are videos of him doing some drills but not in 11 vs 11

Report: Deatrich Wise rehabbing from injury

However, in the playoffs, Wise was inactive for a couple of games before he ultimately played in the Super Bowl, where he recorded five tackles. He was listed on the injury report in the divisional round with an ankle injury, and it appears that may have been giving him trouble at the end of the season.

According to ESPN's Mike Reiss, Wise is rehabbing from an injury and hasn't been on the field so far this offseason. The injury didn't sound overly concerning, but he was in a walking boot.

Mike Reiss said:
Patriots DE Deatrich Wise Jr. isn’t doing any on-field work as he is in a walking boot and on a rehabilitation track, per source. The situation isn’t expected to affect Wise for the 2019 season. Last year, LG Joe Thuney had a similar situation, and he ended up playing every snap.
