I can already see it now. McCoy joining another team, only to lose to NE in the AFCCG or SB.

Priceless.

How could they fit him under the salary cap? And try not to say something like “they’ll just extend Devin McCourty.”

The little money they have now will basically be needed to carry throughout the season, so they’d have to free up a good 7-8 million, in my opinion. I suppose a TB extension would help.

Yes, he’s going to go from 13m a year to the vet minimum. That will almost happen.

If Justin Houston is any indication I would expect McCoy to get a 3 year 30 million deal

Restructure Mason, Cannon, cut Ebner

Mason, I could see. Not as sure about Cannon. Ebner would be a tough cut.

We’ll see what happens. I’m not as optimistic as you are.

Frankly I'm not that optimistic. I'm optimistic they could clear the necessary cap room but I'm not that optimistic that they agree to his demands and outbid other teams.

Ebner is too good of a STer to just cut.
True, I don't see him getting cut realistically. Of course I still hope someone like Obi can become a special teams monster at a lower cost.

A multi-year deal with a big signing bonus amortized over, say 3 years.

Which,a gain, is why I don't think it happens. Would love to be wrong, but I can't think that Cleveland, with all that excitement they're trying to stir, or particularly Indy would let the Pats nab McCoy.

Don't even think the Browns will get that far. Talented team but the coaching staff a gigantic question mark. Is there a single coordinator that inspires confidence that they could handle so many egos ?

I think Miguel outlined a proposal that checks all of those boxes, but you’d still be looking at a year one cap hit that’s around 8-9m. I think his may have actually been 8.5m.

Yeah, I don't see a cap hit lower than that under those circumstances. McCoy will either have to take a deal lower than $10m a year or the Patriots will have to move pieces to make room.

How do the Browns still have cap space?

Brooks and Gant replacing both of them is not unrealistic.

Agree, but to be fair I never said CLE. Could be them, IND, NO, LAC, DAL to name a few..

I have moved on. We don't have the cap room and if we somehow created it we have bigger needs to spend it on (TE). I expect we will add from veteran cuts, but they will be blue light specials.

I agree. Most likely we will extend Brady and then go with 11-12 million cap room into the season. Reduces by 2 million when Gordon is eligible.

The team is good as it is.
