First a point of order: Aren't we actually into phase THREE of free agency. So shouldn't there be a new thread started with that title?

Now back to the point. I'm sure the Pats are interested in McCoy and McCoy will surely be interested in what the Pats have to say. HOWEVER, even though McCoy has made over $100MM so far AND he's likely more interested in a ring than money; MONEY still is the way these guys keep score so you can't eliminate it as a big factor in how this all plays out.

Right now the Pats are about $6MM under the cap. I think the MINIMUM McCoy would take for coming here is around $8MM. So, the first step that McCoy is even a possibility to come here will be reports that the Pats have done something that will clear 2-3MM in cap space. 2nd, we'd have to hear reports that he'll make a visit. Hopefully Bill and Tom will be around when he does.

Most of the teams that fit his requiremnent will have $10+MM to offer. If 10 is the best offer, I can see him coming here for 8, but not less than that.

What do YOU think it would take to get McCoy here and what would have to happen for the Pats to create enough space?

It makes too much sense for the Browns to snag him. Could have a formidable DL for at least 2 year, plenty of cap space to accomodate him.

Browns are the most interesting team to me this season too. Very curious to see how they play

Yes, he’s going to go from 13m a year to the vet minimum. That will almost happen.
