In Bill we trust...all that needs to be said.
Yea that pretty much sums it up. If it doesn't work out its short money and he'll be gone.

If it does work out he'll fit like and old pair of running sneakers you can still run with without dropping $125 on a new pair

You forgot about the 2 plays where Collins bit against forehead in the 2015 AFC Champ game!
How many plays does mcourty screw up and this place loves him?

Watch some of his Browns tape.

Collins still has it.

RW,

We’ll have a friendly wager, I’m saying his days are done here finally. He’ll be 5th or 6th on the depth chart and will provide no special teams help because he’s too slow. Yeah, definitely a goner.

Different players. Roberts isn't going anywhere. Sorry.

:D

In order to be clear....

You say Roberts is not on the Opening Day roster.

I say he will still be on the team Opening Day.

Accurate?

Considering from 2009 to 2012 aside from VW the front 7 was a bag of ****. If Mayo didn't make those tackles 4yds downfield they would have allowed 30ppg
Mayo was amazing at shedding blocks!

One reason that Chung improved the second time around is that he was put in a better position to succeed, pun intended. Maybe it will be the same way with Collins.

Somehow Chung learned how to cover. But you’re right. They use him in more of the rover position he played in college. He’s good to great at it.

Truth be told there are some unflattering pictures of him around that make it appear as though he has gained some weight.

I thought he looked a little more hefty. CLE had him play more on the edge so maybe he needed to eat a couple of Bic Macs to keep the weight up there.
At this stage of his career, he might as well eat a couple more Big Macs and just be a full-time DE, because I very seriously doubt that his coverage "abilities" have improved during the 2-1/2 years he's been gone.

Meanwhile, we still need a young, healthy & talented TE; a young, healthy & talented LT; a #2-calibre WR; an experienced DT to compete with Butler/Cowart/Kamala/Herron/Parry for the #3/4 spots; and a Patrick Chung understudy (unless Bill feels that ObiWan is the real deal).

Too often we forget that players CAN get better even later in their careers....IF they really want to. Just ask Tom Brady. So citing mistakes a player made in 2015 to make a point is just stupid. Even citing them last season doesn't mean they'll commonly occur this season.

THIS is the most coaching centric team in the league. So there is a better shot that Jaime won't make the same mistakes that got him sent to Siberia in the first place. That's not to say he won't make mistakes. That's just in the nature of the game. But hopefully they will be fewer and farther apart this time around.

BTW- any news on the contract yet?

Add a few more burgers and a daily box of Dunkin Donuts and we've got ourselves a new nose tackle.

Jamie the freelancer. Doesn't have to be a bad thing as long as he sticks to his assignment this time.

I'm super excited about this if they actually re-signed him at good value money. He was a game changer or can be when he plays hard and disciplined. He could a be poor man's LT especially with Belichick more hands on the defense this year.

Pat's hall of fame?

He knows what the deal is playing for BB and he's willing to come in and do it again.

Sounds like a more mature player to me.

I think everyone is looking at this all wrong...

Jamie Collins isn't an every down LB. Hell, don't even think "LB" in the traditional sense...

He's the "$" that you need to play in the box on 2nd & short or 3rd & manageable where you already have to cover three WRs...but you still can't neglect the run. That's all. We've been trying (and failing) to find that kind of hybrid player with guys like Jordan Richards & Obi Melifonwu. So, Jamie Collins, at a reasonable price, is a no brainer.

If he gets torched by a TE again and again? No problem, we have the depth/flexibility to play the pass. But -- and it's the most extreme scenario - I can't help but think back to the SB in 2017 vs the Eagles and how many snaps where you you had Chung or Jordan Richards as the 6th-man-in -the-box, only to see Philly gash you with run. Jamie Collins isn't perfect. But he has the flexibility to not be a liability; which can take away mismatches that an offense could exploit.

Also, I really think this will move will make sense vs the Jets now that they have Le'Veon Bell.
