My 2 cents
1. Again thanks to all the previous contributors and Manx's hard work. It is much more fun to criticize someone else's work that actually DO the work yourself.
2. I'm OK with trading up, but I want that pick to be on the DL, Tillery, Simmonds, Lawrence. I think it will be hard to see any of those 3 at 32, but all 3 should be there in the early 20's Though I can see a scenario where Simmonds fall to the top of the 2nd.
3. I'm not that worried about the OL with an early pick. I would be shocked if the Pats don't sign an experienced FA OT before came to fill Waddle's role. Though I certainly wouldn't shock me if we get one in the 2nd or 3rd rounds
4. To Manx's mock - I still can't get excited about Irv Smith. At best he's an undersized move TE, and HB. I don't get the value even in the 2nd. Much more interested in Dawson in the 2nd or Warring, Oliver, or Sternberger in the 3rd. Right now Warring is my TE choice because of potential plus value.
5. In your mock, Manx, you draft 12 guys and add another in a trade. Just too many guys. I'm hoping at least 2 picks get moved to 2020 and another 2 be used to move up in various rounds. I really only want to see 8 rookies come out of this draft.
6. The reason I'm kind of rejecting the idea of getting a WR earlier than 64 is that there seems to be SO many potential decent WR prospects that people are talking about that will still be there in the 3rd and 4th rounds.....and below.
7. As far as picking a WR, I really want a true speed guy like Isabella.
\Manx - you really like Hardman. Do you like him over Isabella and if so why. BTW I couldn't find a 40 or 3 cone time for Hardman.
I also want a big body WR that's a 3rd or 4th round guy like Boykin or Baker. Maybe there is some developmental big WR out there.
8. In my Ideal draft scenario we get Simmons after a small trade down at the top of 2nd and pocket a future 3rd pick in 2020. Then grab Fergeson at 56. Then with our DT and Edge prospect on board we trun to the offense and grab our TE at 64, say Warring. We have 3 picks in the third and use one to move up in the round and pick up a 5th rounder and grab Isabella and use the other 3rd rounder on Boykins/Baker. Using a 4th or 5th we trade that pick for McCoy. In the 5th we add the OT, and after that I simply don't care.
9. In the end we have the DT of the future in Simmons and McCoy on what might be a one year rental, who solidifies our interior DL and becomes a real inside threat on the rush. Plus an edge rusher with potential who can compete with Rivers for snaps.. We have a TE with a high ceiling and 2 WR's who give us more speed and size. We use what pick is left after the McCoy trade to grab that Scar project.
You can blame Toys for that McCoy trade. It was his idea and now I can't get it out of my head. It's too perfect. Now the Simmonds pick makes more sense, since we have McCoy while he heals.
