2019 Mock Drafts

No offense, but only one pick on O in the first two days would make me a sad panda.

Go back and read the discussion between Manxman, Patchick, and Ken, and I think you'll see why I offered this one up for him. I'm of the opinion we're more likely to see OL, TE, WR, S, LB before DL or EDGE, but we'll find out in another week. :)

Comments/Concerns? 4 round mock [thedraftnetwork.com]

32. Nasir Adderley S, Delaware
56. Dexter Lawrence IDL, Clemson
64. Deebo Samuel WR, South Carolina
73. Zach Allen EDGE, Boston College
97. Dennis Daley OT, South Carolina
101. Josh Oliver TE, San Jose State
134. Bobby Evans OT, Oklahoma

Ryan Johnson from CBSSports has a 7 rounder out.

1. AJ Brown - WR- Ole Miss(Draftniks don't call it Mississippi for lurkers:))
2a J. Sternberger - TE - Texas A&M - Good pick IMO
2b Z. Allen DE - Boston College - Too good to pass up here.
3a Blake Cashman - LB - Minnesota Meh.
3b Khalen Saunders - dt- W Illinois I like
3c Ryan Finley - QB - NC St - Too limited
4 Kingsley Keke - DL - Texas A&M I like

6 Saivion Smith - CB - Alabama
7a Tommy Sweeney - TE - Boston College
7b Greg Dortch - WR - Wake Forest
7c Mike Weber - RB - Ohio St
7d Trace McSorley - QB - Penn St

.

This mock fills a ton of holes for us! I would be ecstatic if we did this!

101. Josh Oliver TE, San Jose State
134. Bobby Evans OT, Oklahoma

Love the first four. I love Adderley’s game although I prefer Thornhill for the Pats because I think he fits the McCourty role better. Adderley is more of a single high only(and very good at it) whereas Thornhill. An play single high but is also versatile enough to play every safety role.

But Adderley was one of my early favourites, so I wouldn’t complain at all.

Wilkins & Zach Allen are likely long gone by the time I draft them here;
If I want all of my early-round needs met, then DB will have to wait until the 7th round (Jordan Brown, Khari Willis), but that hopefully should be OK considering our current depth at those positions anyway;
Max Crosby will be drafted much closer to the beginning of Day 3 than to the end of it;
I wanted to use one of the 7ths on a LB, but the value of the other picks was too good to overlook, though I could be convinced to take one at 243 instead of Willis.

Well I got excited. Any mock with Knox, McLaurin and Allen in it gets my seal of approval, whatever that’s worth.

I'd be fine with this draft. I like it a lot, all the way through the 6th.

As you said, Wilkins won't be there. I'm hoping that Allen will be. So, for me, I'd like Little at 32. We'd need to sign a free agent DT or trade for one.

I often pride myself as a person who knows a lot about football, particularly the NFL... but when I read all the mock drafts it makes my head hurt and is humbling, no idea how much all the "draftniks" could possibly know about all these players..

Sad obsession that takes up way too much time in the Jan-April months. You’re best out of it.

My first attempt and I've really just begun reading up on this year's class so try to grade me with that in mind lol

IDL,

That’s interesting because I am starting to wonder about Cody Ford if he falls. He doesn’t fit us athletically but I wonder at what point they might think his value is worth going for. Ford is a bad bad man as a blocker.

You’ve got Thornhill and Allen too, what’s not to love.

Two right-side-only OLmen within the top 101, including 32? And zero WRs? No thank you.

I want to come out of the first two days with one of the next-level DEs (LJ Collier, Zach Allen, Jay Ferguson, Omenihu, Joe Jackson & Tony Nelson) if all of the top-level ones were taken by 32, which they were. So of the 3 available by 64, I prefer Omenihu slightly to Jackson & Nelson.
Deebo Samuel & Hakeem Butler were very strong considerations here too.

I really didn't want to take Boykin as early as 73, but All of the WRs I liked there (which did Not include Hardman or Isabella, sorry not sorry) were gone, and I became worried that there would be even fewer options at 97/101. If Boykin can put it All together, he could be an Elite #1.

And Jake Dolegala at 252 is MUCH better value than Danny Jones at 32.

An interesting article about mock drafts and Draft Twitter, especially this part in the article:

Draft sims, Twitter wars and the rapidly changing world of internet draft coverage

It makes sense. Running simulations -- particularly when you can update with your own big boards, or choose how many teams you're manually drafting for -- can help you get a clear sense of where value might drop off, or when you want to pick players in case there's a run on a position, etc. It's obviously not completely accurately, but practice still helps when you're in the real situation, I imagine.

. . . mostly I just want to get hired into a position where I get paid to create mock drafts. :cool:
